To be pissed off with DH?

For adopting the 'carer' role?
I was discharged from hospital on Thursday after a month. DH is being taught by the District Nurses how to help disconnect my intravenous antibiotics.
He's just told me not to have a third glass of Cava before the District Nurses come back in an hour and a half.
He's turned all sanctimonious! Hmm

Are you meant to be drinking while on antibiotics? If not then I kind of understand where he is coming from, he will just be worried. Not nice to be told what to do, but I can understand both sides.

SauvignonBlanche · 30/08/2014 20:51

I'm not meant to drink, I'm not aware of any antibiotic where it is a requirement of the treatment. I'm not on Metronidazole.

But alcohol stops an antibiotic working properly though.. what's the point in that case? Just because you're not chucking up doesn't mean you should be drinking.

Although a month in hospital is enough to want to I suppose.

Notacs · 30/08/2014 20:55

I think the OP is lighthearted :)

Get well soon OP! Flowers and since you're ill YANBU!

Summerisle1 · 30/08/2014 20:57

Tell him you'll be reporting him to the Care Commissioners if he doesn't buck his ideas up and pour you another glass of Cava right now.

SauvignonBlanche · 30/08/2014 21:03

Thanks Notacs, it's hard to detect inference and I cringe at .
My neurosurgeon is aware that I can't tolerate red wine and can only drink Cava or Prosecco but it's not the worst thing that's happened to me after 3 brain ops.
Alcohol is not contraindicated with my treatment and DH has stopped being sanctimonious and has joined me in a toast to welcome me home. Grin

Phew Grin get well soon OP.

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 30/08/2014 21:05

If alcohol is still on the allowed list then he is Definitely BU. :)

Feel better soon. :)

NormHonal · 30/08/2014 21:06

Wine Welcome home OP!

NormHonal · 30/08/2014 21:07

Fizz, not red, obv.

SauvignonBlanche · 30/08/2014 21:09

I decided I won't report him Summerisle1, as long as he makes me a wholesome Brew before the nurses are due at 10:00 pm.
The Cava's finished Blush

Blimey Sauvignon! I wondered where you were and here you are.

Hope you have a speedy recovery.

WorraLiberty · 30/08/2014 21:17

Get drunk well soon OP Thanks

Tell him he's sacked and MN have had a whip round to provide you with a handsome, naked carer Grin

SauvignonBlanche · 30/08/2014 21:20

I escaped on Thursday after 4 weeks, 2 days and an extra 2 emergency brain ops, having the original tumour removed was a walk in the park.
Am on six weeks of intravenous antibiotics but I'm free! Grin

SauvignonBlanche · 30/08/2014 21:22

Thanks Worra but he's been a star, I'll keep him.
Can I still have the handsome naked carer?

OP posts:
WorraLiberty · 30/08/2014 21:34

Of course. It would be rude not to!

Janethegirl · 30/08/2014 21:38

Take care but enjoy the next bottle of Cava.

AgentZigzag · 30/08/2014 21:52

After 3 brain ops you're allowed a second helping of Cake an' all.

Bet they didn't put that in your discharge leaflet.

SauvignonBlanche · 30/08/2014 22:58

Thanks AgentZigzag Blush
I'd sobered up by the time the District Nurses had arrived and had prepared my infusion for them, set up the sterile field and drawn up the heparin.
DH is loving the presence of so many smiling nurses in uniform, I reckon the Handsome Naked Carer would even things up a bit. Grin

SB.So glad that you're home. Will you ever get that holiday? Drink whatever you want my love and God bless you. Mx.

redshifter · 31/08/2014 03:18

But alcohol stops an antibiotic working properly though.

No it doesn't.
Unless you puked straight after taken one. But that wouldn't matter with IV anyway.

I like the naked carer idea.

What if you told DH you would wait for your next glass if he served it to you naked after nurses had gone? Wink

MammaTJ · 31/08/2014 03:37

I'm so glad you have finally been released.

SauvignonBlanche · 31/08/2014 11:20

There was no Cava left by the time the nurses had gone redshifter Blush.

Thanks maras and MammaTJ. Smile I'm afraid we missed the holiday and the DCs are back at school in a few days Sad. At least I'm alive though!
I'm going to phone the holiday cottage people tomorrow about trying to get a refund.

Sending you hugs, thoughts of bottles and bottles of Prosecco and a team of handsome naked carers. Your husband sounds lovely, by the way. Get well soon.
