What will happen if I step on a varnished floor while it's slightly tacky?

I have literally painted myself into a corner.

I have been on this armchair for hours.

I'm stiff and dehydrated and twitchy now.

The varnish should have been dry by now. It's not Sad

If I just walk across it (big strides on tip toe), can I patch up the damage tomorrow?

I would think it will mark. Not sure if you could patch it up.

Sorry but I can't believe you painted yourself into a corner! Grin

MrsWinnibago · 28/08/2014 00:31

Oh my Gosh! Really! I advise that you lick the soles of your feet and run. The moisture may stop them sticking. Grin

Stratter5 · 28/08/2014 00:31

You'll be able to varnish over your footsteps in the morning, just make sure there's nothing stick to the varnish where you've stepped. Did exactly the same with stain once, and spent a very dull day trapped in the dining room.

It might be walkable on anyway. Might as well have a go...

HaroldLloyd · 28/08/2014 00:32

I can tell you this because I have done it. Tacky little toe prints.

HaroldLloyd · 28/08/2014 00:33

Maybe you could dance out and leave a nice pattern?

ArsenicyOldFace · 28/08/2014 00:33

You are going on my spreadsheet MrsW Grin

Right. I won't need to resand large portions of the floor to blend them in?

Harold you left yours there as art didn't you?

I like the sound of your house Smile

Ok thanks chaps Grin I'm just going to do it.

Hahahahaha Grin Walks off snorting. Sorry, but hahaha.

HaroldLloyd · 28/08/2014 00:42

Just run for it!

I did in in my friends house when I was renting a room from her, she did like to look at the toe prints and mutter at me. I actually don't think we bothered sorting it out and it didn't look all that bad?

cozietoesie · 28/08/2014 00:42

Not humungous portions. Get out of the room, leave it to dry properly and harden (very important) and assess the outcome in a day or two. Unless you're using a seriously death-defying varnish, you're likely going to have to re-varnish at some point anyway so it's not the end of the world.

(And not even for your feet - soles re-grow at no cost or effort. Grin)

Stratter5 · 28/08/2014 00:44

How many coats have you done?

CiderwithBuda · 28/08/2014 09:03

Did you manage to escape?

Andrewofgg · 28/08/2014 09:08

Come on OP don't keep us in suspense!

There's a picture which goes round the net showing some bloke putting up bollards to stop illegal parking on an area of hard standing. And they have bollarded their van in. And you know how they feel, don't you?

NewEraNewMindset · 28/08/2014 09:10

I was doing to suggest tiptoeing around the edge whilst clinging to the walls.

MyFirstName · 28/08/2014 09:17

I did this painting the stairs. Very sensibly did alternate stairs as all the forums suggested. Then thought Fuck it, I'll just fill in a few, save me having to do them later. Then looked up. Looked down. Trapped. Surrounded by stairs of white.

Fortunately was undercoat and landing had no carpet so managed to escape. With painty toes. When I did the top coat I managed to be waayyyy more sensible.

limitedperiodonly · 28/08/2014 09:21

[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iEDT6i1c6Gw This might work (from 1 min 25).

londonrach · 28/08/2014 09:23

You stick, turn purple with pink spots and stay there for the rest of your life. (Joking). No idea...

trixymalixy · 28/08/2014 09:30

Walk on one board only then if you have to resand you won't have to do any blending you can just sand that one board.

eddielizzard · 28/08/2014 09:32

so rude not to update!!!

MrsWinnibago · 28/08/2014 09:40

Omg I expect OP is asleep! Or at work! Its not rude! She only began this thread late last night! Grin
