to think "Buy It Now" means just that?

I listed a bag on eBay, lovely bag.

Put it up for a knock down Buy It Now price, as we are off on holiday next week and to be honest, I need the spending money.

In the listing I ticked the Paypal "immediate payment required" box.

Hey presto, not 20 minutes after listing, the bag was sold.

That was 24 hours ago, and I've still not been paid, despite sending an invoice.

If I ever use the Buy It Now option, I pay, there and then.

Just wondered what the consensus was on this, and when is a fair amount of time for the buyer to pay?

'Buy it now' just means 'you don't have to go through the auction process' - tbh I think a couple of days is fine, though obviously it would be nicer if they paid up immediately!

Buy it now is just a way to skip the auction process isn't it. I'd pay quickly too but possibly not immediately.

If I do a 'Buy It Now' then I just click through on PayPal and do it. Must admit thought that was the way it worked.

If you ticked Immediate Payment Required the item should remain available to other buyers until it's been paid for.

Why would anyone leave the page without paying? It never occurred to me to do that - I think of it as like a shop. Anyway it's only a couple of clicks. It's more effort to pay later.

Whenever I buy a "Buy it now" item I immediately go through the payment process. I was about to add I don't understand why others don't but maybe they're waiting till payday but wanted to secure the item quickly. How long do buyers have to pay I wonder?

I wouldn't "buy it now," unless I planned to pay immediately.

I looked it up on the ebay "customer support," and it says an items in your ebay shopping card remain available to other buyers until you pay for them. Weird.

OP, can you re-list it?

I always pay immediately. If I didn't have the funds available straight away I wouldn't buy it in the first place.

I always pay straight away on e-bay (polishes halo) I think it is a bit rude to keep people waiting that long.

Though I pay quickly, buy it now to me just means it's a set price and not an auction.

I would expect to wait as normal for payment, but not as long as a week, when are you going on holiday?

I would be tempted to send a friendly PM saying that if the buyer pays now you will be able to post before your holiday, but to be aware your going away.

It's more like "Agree to Buy it Now".

But, just like an auction, or any other bill, you don't have to pay now, just within the agreed windows.

It wouldn't occur to me not to pay immediately on a Buy It Now item, in fact I didn't even know it was possible not to go through the payment process immediately. I think that since the person hasn't paid the item is still for sale. Anything else wouldn't be fair.

I popped a friendly note on the invoice, even ended it with a :)

I listed a heap of stuff on BIN all except 2 have sold so far and all (except the bag lady) have completed the transaction at the same time.

We go Saturday morning. Worse case I could take it with me and post while we are away.

that's really odd because most of the time now you can't complete unless you pay straight away on buy-it-now items - especially on the mobile app.

i always pay straight away as i find it bloody irritating when people don't pay up on stuff i list

If she doesn't pay before you go definitely don't take it to post whilst your away. She can wait to pay, she can wait yo get it too.

Immediate payment required means that when buyer clicks they should instantly be taken to PayPal to pay, if they don't the item remains for sale.
I always use the option however, I've found on the odd occasion there is a glitch with it that allows the item to be bought without immediate payment.

I'd have a moan at eBay personally.

I always check when payment is required and if it says immediate then I do.

I wouldn't post the bag either on holiday, last time I has to wait a while for payment they started chasing for delivery the next day.

eBay is pissing me right off at the moment.

It might be worth messaging her to check as I have bought something buy it now before and paid by PayPal as normal and not realised until two days later that my bank had declined my card as a potential fraud transaction (for a bloomin £4 item?!?) Maybe her card has been declined or something? Or she could just be a pitaGrin

I believe the ebay policy is that payment needs to be made within 4 days.

I've been selling on ebay for years and for some reason people want to buy, but not necessarily pay, or pay quickly. Very frustrating.

Did your message tell the buyer you need to send it ASAP as you're going away? If they can't pay you before you go away, I'd be telling them that they'll have to wait til you get back to post it. That should hurry them up.
