to think "Buy It Now" means just that?

I listed a bag on eBay, lovely bag.

Put it up for a knock down Buy It Now price, as we are off on holiday next week and to be honest, I need the spending money.

In the listing I ticked the Paypal "immediate payment required" box.

Hey presto, not 20 minutes after listing, the bag was sold.

That was 24 hours ago, and I've still not been paid, despite sending an invoice.

If I ever use the Buy It Now option, I pay, there and then.

Just wondered what the consensus was on this, and when is a fair amount of time for the buyer to pay?

I'd pay immediately if possible

At longest within 24 hours

Fucking eBay

GaryShitpeas · 22/08/2014 00:24

What bag was it btw?

Blush

Send them a message "just to let you know I will be in holiday next week, so will be unable to post. If you pay tomorrow, I can get to post office"

PricillaQueenOfTheDessert · 22/08/2014 00:39

I would send her an email saying your going away and if she can pay before the weekend you can post it out to her otherwise she will have to wait. Might kick-start a reaction.

Gruntfuttock · 22/08/2014 00:41

If she didn't pay immediately, is it possible she changed her mind about completing the purchase and the item is still available?

MrsMarcJacobs · 22/08/2014 01:13

I usually give someone 3 days to pay and put that in my listing - if not it's a second chance offer or relisting. I think immediate payment is expecting too much. People could be bidding on their phones etc

slithytove · 22/08/2014 01:43

I thought it meant then and there.

PrimalLass · 22/08/2014 07:03

She is maybe waiting for her own auctions to finish so that she has PayPal funds.

Red7 · 22/08/2014 07:35

She paid at 6.44am.

Holiday can commence (a soggy week in a tent with 3 DC) Grin

At least we now have some spending money.

Gary it was an Orla Kiely, BNWT. Lovely bag, but really not my cup of tea.:)

I think some people are missing the point, the auction was listed as a buy it now with immediate payment.
The buyer shouldn't have been able to buy it then not pay immediately.

As I explained above when you check that option it should take the buyer straight to a payment screen and if they don't pay the item remains for sale.

In this case somehow the immediate payment hasn't worked and the buyer was able to use BIN and not pay. That shouldn't happen.

CointreauVersial · 22/08/2014 15:33

Sisters - no, she didn't list it as "immediate payment". So it is perfectly possible for the buyer to wait three days before paying.

iamdivergent · 22/08/2014 16:52

immediate payment is only for business sellers if I am remembering correctly. If I buy it now I always pay right away too

SistersOfPercy · 22/08/2014 17:48

cointreau, from the OP
In the listing I ticked the Paypal "immediate payment required" box

She did list as immediate payment, but a glitch has stopped it from being applied to the auction. Something similar happened to me a few months ago, it applied to several of my auctions but not one.

iamdivergent immediate payment is for all sellers. I am not a business seller and use it regularly.
