To be so excited about buying this dress

I've just bought this for a really posh work do next month. Last year I went in a really boring black jersey dress and ugly flat shoes and I stood out like a sore thumb. This year I am determined to dress up. I just need some nice heels to go with it now.

I'm overweight, and am hoping this will be flattering! I tried something similar on yesterday and it looked lovely (I wasn't able to do it up though as it was 2 sizes too small).

I can't wait for it to arrive!

Thurlow · 20/08/2014 16:19

Oooh, that is gorgeous!

On the off chance you are a size 3 shoe, I have the perfect pair of emerald green heels I will never wear again that would go with that perfectly.

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 20/08/2014 16:21

Fabulous, amazing colours. Just wondering is there already/are you going to wear a stiff petticoat underneath?

KnackeredMuchly · 20/08/2014 16:21

That is gorgeous! You'll be the belle of the ball Wine

Gileswithachainsaw · 20/08/2014 16:23

I have that dress.

It's lovely,

ChameleonCircuit · 20/08/2014 16:26

Oh my, I'm so not a dress person, but that's beautiful! Where did you get it from if you don't mind sharing?

farewellfigure · 20/08/2014 16:36

Yes, it's from here ladyvlondon.com/. I tried on a dress that cost twice as much yesterday, then came home and googled 1950s dresses. There are at least another 3 website in the UK that do them and some are incredibly cheap. You couldn't buy the fabric for the price. I liked this one though because it said they are made in the UK which I thought was important. Oh OK, I just loved the fabric.

If it suits me though I might have to buy a spotty one too and a tea dress...oh heck I feel an obsession coming on.

I haven't bought a petticoat. I thought it might look a bit too much like I was trying to be all 1950s when really I just think it's a pretty shape.

Ooh I hadn't thought about purple shoes. That would look nice. Sadly thurlow I'm a size 6, but thank you ever so much for your kind offer!

I'm surprised you had to google to find them. Every time someone says they need a dress on here somebody links to that site. They have very good spamming Internet presence.

farewellfigure · 20/08/2014 16:45

Haha. I'd never heard of them before! And now I'm doing their marketing for them! Ah well. Hopefully it's good news that so many people recommend them!

Your choice is lovely.

minibmw2010 · 20/08/2014 18:15

Beautiful and that's my favourite colour too.

Dontgotosleep · 20/08/2014 18:41

It's gorgeous. I want one. Mind you I've ordered myself a sailor dress of ebay only cost me £30.

maddening · 20/08/2014 18:43

What shoes are you wearing with it? What are your accessories and how are you having your hair

farewellfigure · 20/08/2014 20:16

I haven't decided on shoes, accessories or hair, but I do think I shouldn't overdo the 50s vibe, so I won't be going all madly 50s. I'm not usually a jewellery type of person, but I do think I have to do the dress justice so will need some sort of necklace. Someone upthread mentioned purple shoes. I could definitely be happy with a pair of purple suede wedges! Grin

Thats lovely, gorgeous colour. Have a fab time.

Purple shoes will look amazing!

Oldraver · 20/08/2014 20:21

I bought their butterfly dress and it was so badly made and badly fitting I had to send it back. I was so looking forward to it and was so disappointed
