WIBU to feel so ashamed about buying a Fray Bentos steak and kidney pie I had to use the self serve checkout?

I'm not surprised - they are revolting!

There are some things that are always self service. With me it's the National Enquirer.

Ugggh. Never ever had one, much to the amusement of the people I work with. A pie in a can? Just doesn't appeal.

I used to love Frey Bentos pies when I was a kid - we hardly ever had them and I thought they were really posh! I haven't had one as an adult, the reality is bound to be crushingly disappointing compared to childhood memories.

I buy these from Home Bargains for about 34p when I'm skint just before payday. They're brilliant!

On the occasions my mother asks me to buy her a newspaper (DM ) on my way over, I always have to make sure I use the self service checkout if I'm in the supermarket, or tell the newsagent that "This is for my mother"!

YABU to buy them anywhere with self service checkouts - far too expensive in the main supermarkets when you can get them for < £1 elsewhere.

Also frey bentos pies are very nice, I like the just chicken ones myself.

I also used to think these were fancy. Many a Sunday meal was Frae Bentos Steak pie, tatties and peas.

I have a rescue cat, the people who rescued it suspected it was feed on fray bentos pies. Apparently they were lined up on kitchen floor.

Put it on the conveyor belt with pride! Bung a few organic apples or something on there to dilute the horror :-)

I've never actually eaten one but I'd like to. Do they make a veggie version?
