To make cupcakes in a turd shape?

DS is having a bug-themed party in September. I really want to make cupcakes that look like turds, with raisin 'flies'. MIL thinks that the other parents (5 invited from nursery, plus family who Tbh know what I'm like-they attended a random Christmas lunch I decided to host in July last year!) may be offended? What do you think?

Can I just add, MIL found the idea hilarious...this is just about the other parents!

I'd crack up laughing if I saw that! Personally I'd love it.

The party is for your DS, not the adults. I'd do it. Really, if parents are offended and don't want to come to your house again you've saved yourself the trouble of hanging out with high strung people.

At three years old I'd worry that they might struggle to understand the difference and assume that all poo tastes like cake. It could make for some interesting conversations at nursey pick up. A bit older and I think it would be fine although disgusting and they'd be more able to understand it was a joke.

What about leaf cookies with white sprinkles for aphids? Then you could put a lady bug on it.

You can try getting those cupcake holders that look like pot plants, and decorate the cupcake with dark chocolate icing to look like soil and then stick edible lady bugs or flowers on it?

No, I wouldn't, I would make cupcakes that are decorated like various bugs.

My ds' s would find it very amusing. I'd be impressed you had the guts to do it and think it was great but I think there would be some who would be less than impressed. I wouldn't do it.

I accidentally made dog shit chocolate cupcakes a couple of years ago.

I couldn't find my star icing nozzle, so just cut a hole in the bottom of a piping bag, iced cupcakes with a swirl of chocolate buttericing, result - dog shit cupcakes.

Worms in Dirt

I don't know why I didn't think of this before. These are super popular here in the US. It's basically just oreo cookies ground up, mixed with pudding, and then put in a cup with gummy worms. It's still "little boy gross" without being offensive to other parents.

And.. if kids think dirt tastes good after this, good news. It won't hurt them to eat actual dirt. :)

At slightly older I think it would go down better. My BIL did 'Pin the poo on the shoe' which went down a treat at his party.

Have to ask though op, what made you think of turd cakes??? You could make a caterpillar out of lots of bun cakes or just do soil icing (chocolate icing with grated dark choc?) and decorate with sour worms and other bug related jelly sweets.
