And i'm not even a Liverpool supporter!

Ok, so he has a penchant for biting fellow players, but he really lit up the Premier League last season and (IMO) was easily the best player (let alone striker) in it. I will miss watching his relentless hard work, natural talent and sheer brilliance at tearing up opposition defences (and I say that as a Norwich fan...how many goals did he score against us last season?! Confused)

He was pure entertainment both on and off the pitch, and I think the league will be a poorer place without him.

I like the casual dismissal of his penchant for biting Confused

Imagine that someone you work with bit people he fell out with, but everyone wanted to keep him on anyway because, hey, he's really good at other stuff.

LadyLuck10 · 12/08/2014 09:28

Yabu how can you play down the biting Confused

yellowdinosauragain · 12/08/2014 09:29

He's an aggressive nasty cunt who should have been banned permanently and is lucky he's not facing criminal charges of assault. Hth

avocadoaddict · 12/08/2014 09:30

I didn't mean to play it down, I just wanted that issue to be an aside to talking about his talent in terms of being a player. If I hadn't even acknowledged the biting incidents, the thread would have been inundated with responses mentioning those alone (which I think it now will be anyway to be honest!).

As I read somewhere once: it's not just that he bites, it's not just that he's racist, it's not just that he cheats, it's that he's a biting racist cheat. Who shows no remorse for any of it.

I'm glad he's gone and I'm glad my team didn't sign him

You want excitement, Aaron Ramsey and Alexis Sanchez are going to light up this year Grin

dreamingbohemian · 12/08/2014 09:35

x-post

But you can't set the biting aside -- it's not like a personal issue that happens off the pitch (like all the footballers consorting with prostitutes and each other's wives), he's doing all this stuff on the pitch. It's who he is as a player. Hence YABU.

yellowdinosauragain · 12/08/2014 09:36

Couldn't agree more with dreamingbohemian (apart from supporting arsenal)

avocadoaddict · 12/08/2014 09:36

I am excited about the prospect of Ramsey this year, I have to admit. It's just always a disappointment when talent leaves the Premier League (thinks sadly about Bale, Modric and others).

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 12/08/2014 09:37

Sorry, but i am a liverpool supporter and think yabu. I may change my mind seeing how we do this season though Wink

PleaseJustShootMeNow · 12/08/2014 09:38

You can't separate his violence from his 'talent in terms of being a player'. How much of his 'sheer brilliance at tearing up opposition defences' is actually a result of other players holding back because he's an aggressive, violent thug who is likely to assault them if they get to close?

He should be in jail for what he's done. Nasty piece of work who has shamed his team.

DreamingofSummer · 12/08/2014 09:40

You can never have too many racist, diving, cheating biters. Even in Norwich

avocadoaddict · 12/08/2014 09:42

In order to avoid the 'AIBU?' 'Yes!' 'No i'm not...' scenario, yes I admit IABU.

OP posts:
gordyslovesheep · 12/08/2014 09:43

I couldn't get past the biting and racism - I wont miss him

PleaseJustShootMeNow · 12/08/2014 09:45

You admit that YABU? What's that all about? We're still only on page 1. [disappointed]

avocadoaddict · 12/08/2014 09:53

Sorry please! I'm sure it won't stop me being slaughtered on here though Grin

Vile little man. Cheating, petulant, crosspatch little schoolboy bully, in fact, scratch the schoolboy - id be doing them a disservice.

Good riddance, hes someone elses league's problem now. Can't bear the fact hes not been criminally prosecuted for biting his colleagues.
Its like saying 'Luis makes the vest souffles you've ever seen, customers ask for him to make theirs! Bites chunks out of the other chefs shoulders if they get in his way but hey, fuck it, he does a mean light, fluffy souffle - make him chef of the day'

Vile creature.

RiverTam · 12/08/2014 10:01

I couldn't give a fuck about him as a player. Anyone else who bit another adult (more than once!) would have been clobbered for assault and would hopefully be in prison, which is where Suarez should be. I don't see why being good at kicking a football around a pitch with a bunch of other manchildren should be some kind of Keep-out-of-jail pass.

TheFairyCaravan · 12/08/2014 10:04

He is a cheating, biting, racist. I am surprised that Barcelona paid money for him, more fool them. He should have been banned for life.

Good riddance I say.

VonHerrBurton · 12/08/2014 10:05

best souflees, soz!

dreamingbohemian · 12/08/2014 10:15

Oh glad you like Ramsey too OP Smile

I like to think he will stay, he took a really long time to come back from his awful leg break and Arsenal stood by him, not every club would have waited so long. He's come up through the youth system and seems super loyal. But I guess you can never tell.

It's going to take a long time to get used to Fabregas in a Chelsea kit Angry

thereturnofshoesy · 12/08/2014 10:16

i don't even watch football
but have heard of him, he is a vile thug

avocadoaddict · 12/08/2014 10:21

Arsenal obviously (and rightly) thought he was worth the wait. I haven't seen much of Sanchez so I really look forward to watching him this season.

YY re Fabregas. Will be good to have him back in the Premiership though.

Lovecat · 12/08/2014 10:25

I've been a Liverpool supporter all my life and I'm glad he's gone (although like Beyond I may be a bit wistful about our future results).

He should have been kicked out the first time (for our team) that he bit someone. I'm amazed Barcelona were willing to have him, tbh.

HesterShaw · 12/08/2014 10:25

Oh my God. YABU.

He is a nasty little psycho who needs intensive mental help before being allowed near fellow players or a pitch ever again.
