You need a visit from ss and a parenting course

And also what the hell with al these business willing to carry out these treatments on children so young

Why are these people given a platform for their stupidity?

I don't get why that programme was even made.

And you never know with that kind of thing on TV how much of it is a put up job.

I started watching it but could only manage about 10 minutes. DH likened it to child abuse. But it's all in the name of entertainment! If we'll watch it, it will get made .

The advert was enough to make me angry

Women can afford all the gold for precious and princess but not a carpet for her hall way?

I love traditional and classic baby clothes, but they all seem bloody blinged up now days!

What worries me is some of these 'accessories' must he a real choking hazard for young children

The little girl in the Hooters outfit... I had no words. And the dance moves she'd been taught! I couldn't believe it, I genuinely had a hard time watching her doing something so blatantly sexualised. My OH found it SO uncomfortable.

It was totally inappropriate, why did OH feel uncomfortable though?

What was the programme?

Mmm.... Don't quite agree with article. Its one thing having bringing taste, quite another thing sexualising children. That said I did find the kiddy dance scenes funny in Bad Grandpa and Little Miss, though they were being ironic

Omg. Seriously what's wrong with wearing asdfa clothes and jumping in puddles.

Who would seriously coat their young child's skin in chemicals like that.

Anything that stops kids being able to play like kids is just wrong. Those monstrosities called dresses look really inhibiting and must be baking hot to wear.

I particularly hated the bit where the little girl was running around softplay with her giant hoop earrings. We had to take them off for P.E. as the teacher warned it would be very easy for someone to collide and rip our earlobes off so I was horrified to see a little girl wearing them in a very physically active environment

Having said that, I thought the bit at the end where the mum said 'If she doesn't want to be a girly girl later, that's fine. But at least I'll have this' was actually quite mature. A lot of people have pictures in their heads of how their little boy/girl will be and sometimes it is very gender stereotyped. This mum is deliberately indulging her cutesy-little-girl preference now because, as she pointed out, her daughter might not want to later. It seems relatively fair to me, put that way.

Granted I don't think I would cover a small child in spray tan and let it wear big earrings as I think they are impractical, but I think big frilly dresses and bows are fine as long as the child isn't bothered by them.

As for the pageants, admittedly I did find those rather dreadful and over-sexualised.

I can't even get my 5yo DD to keep a basic ponytail in .

I thought one of the little girls ears looked really sore and red. These Mums need their heads read, they really do. The pageants, the hooters outfit ... well words fail me.

Throughout the programme, what really really got me was all the women on there (including the ones in the shop) droning on "every Mum loves a bit of bling" and "Every Mum thinks their daughter is a doll" on and on and on...

Errrrr no, not every Mum does.

I certainly don't. I dress for practicality not what I think others would deem pretty.

They wear school uniforms all day, let then knock about in shorts and a t shirt fgs.

The Mum with the two Daughters was horrible. I think they were 2yrs and 4yrs? The eldest said "I do it for my Mum" which I thought was very sad. The Mum admitted that it was all her doing. She was extremely pushy and didn't even try to hide her disappointment at her Daughter 'only' getting 3rd place! Poor girls

Every time I try to think of a comment I sound like a raging snob so I'll leave it to my DH who walked into the room, watched 10 minutes of it then went upstairs to check on our girls. He came back down and said 'thank fuck we have tomboys' then watched the rest of it with his mouth hanging open..
I do find girls running around just being kids in tutus rather cute though. That was the only but that made me smile, I could have wept at the rest of it. That little dot with a dummy and a spray tan especially.

Didn't see this on tv, bt when dsds mum picked her up, she had put eye shadow on her 12 month old in preparation for a toddlers bday party...

I hated the Hooters thing with a vengeance. I was willing her to realise it was a bad idea, and more importantly, why!

I dont think you can lump in girls who like pretty things with mothers who are on a mission to force their children down an extreme path of early sexulisation and tarting up and focus 100% on their looks.

I agree, parenting course and SS visit.

I dont like children being subjected to any extreme behaviour be it to a religion, forced to study like child genuis or like that program.

children do not belong to us and we should not force them down one road.
