To not want anyone in my house while I'm away

Basically my friend is house- sitting for me for a month. She has a new bloke (a few weeks) who I havent met and therefore I dont want him in my house while I am away?

Is that unreasonable? I don't actually want anyone else bar my friend in my house while I not here- should I make that clear to her (in a nice way!) Its a mutually beneficial arrangement for her to be here but I feel like I need ground rules!

Well you need to make that clear to her then. In her shoes I'd not be house sitting for you if you didn't trust me to invite people over. You're basically saying you don't trust her judgement about who she brings into your house!

Nothing wrong with having some ground rules, such as not having a party, but not being able to invite her boyfriend over or a mate to come for dinner / a glass of wine in the evening? Very unreasonable, imho.

A month is a very long time to not be allowed visitors

If you trust her enough to leave her to house sit, why don't you trust her judgement of who she allows in?

Yanbu at all. I've had friends who had people over they hadn't met before, and cash went missing as well as a ps3. Your house and it's contents are precious.

I can understand that it's going to feel a bit weird to think that there is someone in your house that you don't know but tbh, you have no way of policing who your friend has in the house. You have to trust her judgement. you trust her enough to look after your home, you have to trust that part of looking after it is being responsible about who she brings into it and what they do in it.

You could always get a lock on your bedroom door and put everything personal in there if that makes you feel better. But you have to allow someone who is living in your home for a month, doing you a massive favour, to have some sort of normal life while they're doing it.

A month is a long time not to have visitors, she might not feel like going out all the time to see people.

If I trusted my friend to house sit for a whole month I'd trust her judgemental when it came to visitors in my house.

So if ops friend wants any company she has to be out the house all the time? Sod that.

Meet him before you go away. He won't be a stranger then, so will be less likely to shag your pal in every room of the house and wipe his cock on the curtains.

Or just trust your friend to be a normal person and treat your house with respect, whether she has a guest or not. Does she have to use your bedroom, or is there a spare room?

If you don't want her shagging in your bed then do as a previous poster said and lock your room, along with anything precious in it. Let her stay in another room.

If you don't have another room then either ask her to bring her own bedding or buy a cheap set for her to use when she's there and think of that as the cost of having someone to housesit.

But for fucks sake don't tell her she can't have anyone else in the house for a month. That is massively unreasonable.
