We have a beautiful baby daughter and are really happy, but I don't always admit to people how we met! It still seems stereotypically not a cool thing to do. Have a feeling I'm being a bit silly! Any other dating website success stories from 'normal' people?

I'm not embarrassed at all about meeting DH online. It's completely normal these days! I think it's a very boring way to meet but people usually love to hear about it.

I think it's completely normal these days isn't it? I read somewhere that a third of recently married couples met online, or maybe that's in America. One day people will say, 'Oh we were childhood sweethearts', or 'We met at work' or whatever, and people will say, 'Oh how QUAINT'! Don't be embarrassed at all!

I met my amazing DP on Match 5 years ago, we are expecting our first child in October. Don't be ashamed - so many more people than you think have met their partners this way! What else do you do when you have no single male friends, or friends of friends, left? Why is hookng up in a bar any better!

It's the modern way of meeting and every bit as valid as any other way of meeting a partner. You have nothing to feel embarrassed about. I didn't meet my DH via a dating website but we were the result of a holiday romance that worked out. So long as you are happy together that is what matters not how you met.

We didn't meet online but DP says he's going to embellish our story for DS when he's older because I was pregnant within weeks of meeting DP for the first time

Well, call me shallow (and you probably will but its individual choice) when I man I knew through a mutual hobby that I really liked became single, I was keen until I found out he had done a lot of internet dating. I was never able to look at him in the same way again. I found it really off-putting and although we went on a couple of dates and he was keen, I couldn't stop thinking about why he had done internet dating in the past instead of asking me out then, how many women he had dated and whether he would go on it again or was even on it now, looking around to see if he could find someone better. So I just let it fizzle out.

chelsy I can understand where you're coming from, I think some men do use it to meet lots of women. But I reckon they're the men who would do that in real life anyway if they could. I was DP's second (and hopefully last!) date

I net DH at Glastonbury through mutual friends. We are just sooooo rock and roll, the teens are well impressed though they manage to hide it really well.
