Should I be tipping the Ocado man?

Ha. This reminds me of the swan spat in my salsa thing.

I would say no - aren't you paying for the delivery?

Itsjustmeagain · 10/07/2014 20:12

no its a delivery you paid for I never tip delivery drivers - I've never even thought of it!

RichTeas · 10/07/2014 20:15

At the moment I am not paying for the delivery (super pass or something like that). In any case, tips are not for the delivery aspect they are for the good/friendly service. I am just wondering how many people do tip the driver, some must?

I don't

DoJo · 10/07/2014 20:16

I've never tipped them, but I believe there is one resourceful MNer who deposited an egg in her delivery man's hand and then realised too late that it made her look a wee bit demented!

SociallyAcceptableCookie · 10/07/2014 20:17

I tried to tip the first time I had a grocery delivery but the driver told me he wasn't allowed to accept.

Pipbin · 10/07/2014 20:18

I never have. I feel very odd about tipping. It's a bit condescending.

jelliebelly · 10/07/2014 20:20

Never even considered it Blush

Birkenvegas · 10/07/2014 20:21

Nope

BeanyIsPregnant · 10/07/2014 20:25

My db works as a delivery man for waitrose.... He's never been tipped and I think waitrose customers are probably the most likely to!

I did offer my asda delivery man a glass of cold water today after he lugged all of the crates up to my first floor flat, which he was very appreciative of (and apparently I was the only person to have offered all day, even in this weather..)

So if you want to do a good deed, offer them a drink!

greenfolder · 10/07/2014 20:35

dont think they are allowed to accept them tbh

RichTeas · 10/07/2014 21:23

Thanks, great replies. A glass of cold water it will be!

tallulahturtle · 10/07/2014 21:32

Yes please a drink would be much appreciated. Im a
delivery driver for Majestic wine and I have been out all day everyday in this heat and no air conditioning. Although my biggest problem is dehydration as i have to stop drinking water unless i want my bladder to explode as i work in rural areas so there is never a tescos etc to pop to the loo in and there are very few places where i can go for an al fresco pee!
Thats a whole new topic, but would be lovely although slightly weird if a customer offered me a chance for a pee :)

silveroldie2 · 10/07/2014 22:19

I don't except at Christmas and one time when the driver delivered in his own car because his van broke down.

windchime · 10/07/2014 22:21

I might tip them if they are friendly and I used a coupon for cheap/free delivery Blush

hollycomputer · 10/07/2014 22:24

I've never tipped a supermarket delivery driver but like beany I have offered them a glass of water.

RaspberryRuffle · 10/07/2014 22:40

Yes I tip them when they bring the delivery because when I actually bother to get a delivery I get lots of tins, bottles of juice and wine etc that are quite heavy.

morethanpotatoprints · 10/07/2014 22:43

My ds occasionally delivers for Asda, and manages home shopping in our area.
their company policy is not to accept a tip.

CaptainTripps · 10/07/2014 22:51

I made my Ocado man a lovely cup of coffee (latte) when it snowed a couple of years back. I had it just cooled down perfectly so he could gulp it down quickly.

Made me feel all glowy. He sure did appreciate it.

FrancesNiadova · 11/07/2014 00:03

Tesco are the only shop that will deliver to our area. I'm on crutches, in an air boot, or in a wheelchair for longer walks. Tesco delivery folk, I couldn't manage without you, THANKS! (Oh & no, they don't accept tips).

sashh · 11/07/2014 07:05

I've made the odd cup of tea but never thought about tipping.

mrsseed · 11/07/2014 07:09

I was just finished baking when mine came once and gave him a cupcake
