To buy a soda for £5000

Is this mad? Is a sofa worth spending a lot of cash on? One we have is in bits. Got it reupholstered but it was done really badly. Gaping hole at side and layers of extra fabric at other side.
We can afford if without going into debt. Just wonder if it's worth spending so much money on a piece of furniture. Although this is one of the cheaper ones of all I've seen.

I'm assuming it's a 3 piece suit for £5000 and not just a 3 seater sofa?

Dunno where you've been looking but I don't reckon I saw a sofa above 5k when I went sofa shopping. Either at places like csl or the nice independent sofa shop in town.

My first 3 piece cost me 3k for the suite, ten years ago I guess.

I've since replaced it with 2x £700 sofas. I wouldn't say the quality was any worse.

A £5000 sofa is very expensive! Double what we spent on our most expensive sofa a few years back (which has not aged well - cats and kids have wrecked it). Replacement is going to be an ikea one I think - I feel stupidly cheated by the waste of money.

A soda at the price, I hope it's made from unicorn tears and leprechaun blood.

A sofa on the other hand, I wouldn't personally spend too much on a new sofa, I think I would just be paranoid of any spills or tears and heartbroken if they occurred, but if you have the money and it's worth it to you and you think you would get many years of use out of it, it's your call.

Well a 5k soda certainly beats a five dollar shake.

IMO though, £5000 is a LOT for a sofa.

We had a new corner suite in December which is huge, excellent quality with all the stain-resistant extras etc, and it was £2500. Which was the highest end I would pay for a sofa tbh.

We spent 3000 on a sofa..20 years ago. It probably needs to be replaced but we have sat on it on average once a day. So it works out about 20p per person per sit. So not too bad, really. I think we got better value out of that than any of the cars we bought during that time.

If it is a swanky brand like Ligne Roset or something, even the tattiest ones sell on Ebay for something.

Our sofa cost that and it's from barker and Stonehouse about 10 years ago. It's still lovely.
I believe in spending on sofas as that's where I spend most of my waking time

We have a £5k 3 piece. It's an Italian designer and leather.

We've had it about 8 years and it still looks pretty good although it's not the comfiest. doubt we'll have to replace for another 8 if we don't want to.

I should note that we didn't pay a penny for it, but had it given it to us by PIL who found it v uncomfortable. I'd rather have more sofas over the time period than spend the same money again

Our corner sofa cost that, after discount. It's a Lazyboy in top grade leather with electric recliners.

Yes it was very expensive, but it is the comfiest sofa I have ever sat on by a long way, and it has a ten year warranty. I love it.

Ages ago we bought a sofa for about £1.5k, it was about half price. So I reckon a new one now would be £5k. Sofas are expensive.

Try for a sale one (not one of those places that are always on sale).

We paid 3k for our sofa 6 years ago, but it hasn't worn well!
