To be enjoying seeing the flags by the names ...

... and would like to see the option to have one stay after the football is over. Unrelated to footie.

It gives MN a cosmopolitan sort of world-wide feel, and i'm finding it interesting :)

Hovering over the flag tells you the country and i've learned two i didn't know already in an hour.

(i realise that the choice of flag doesn't necessarily denote the nationality of the poster - lots of reasons to choose a flag. Still interesting)

I thought it was to show how worldly MN is but then it's all down to the stupid football.

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 16/06/2014 16:28

I love it! Grin

UnderEstherMate · 16/06/2014 16:28

I love it too! I wish it wasn't just for the World Cup though. The flag I wanted wasn't there as they didn't qualify Sad

DizzyKipper · 16/06/2014 16:36

I quite like it too as it reminds me that MN is much more than just the UK, which in all honesty is quite often an automatic assumption I make about where the posters are posting from.

Rideronthestorm · 16/06/2014 16:37

I'd like a Welsh one.

ICanSeeTheSun · 16/06/2014 16:38

I would love a welsh one.

The USA flag is because I just wanted one

PrimalLass · 16/06/2014 16:38

I'd like one, please. Even though Scotland obviously isn't in the World Cup.

OwlCapone · 16/06/2014 16:38

Personally, I find all the pandering to football rather tedious. A football icon and now flags? OVer the top IMO.

PrimalLass · 16/06/2014 16:39

How do you it?

PennySillin · 16/06/2014 16:39

I think most of them are sweepstake results Wink but you're right it brightens mumsnet up - I like them! Smile

PennySillin · 16/06/2014 16:40

Go into your profile Prima and you can select your team from a drop down menu.

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 16/06/2014 16:40

Not wanting to seem thick..... How does one get a flag? Blush

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 16/06/2014 16:41

Ah x-post.

PeachandRaspberry · 16/06/2014 16:41

I like them, but only as a novelty. Not permanently!

SarahAndFuck · 16/06/2014 16:41

I don't care about the football, I just wanted a flag. I was tempted to go for the prettiest one but decided to stick with England.

I just hope it's not snatched away from me the moment we are out of the competition.

Morethanalittlebitconfused · 16/06/2014 16:41

Why has football been given this honour? Football is shit.

We've had the Olympics, Winter Olympics, rugby and cricket world cups in recent years and not a sniff of recognition.

fluffyraggies · 16/06/2014 16:41

We aught to have the choice of all the flags then. Not just the footie ones.

I didn't realise there was no Welsh choice. That's a shame.

Would people like them to stay after the WC is finished?

OP posts:
LotsaTuddles · 16/06/2014 16:42

I like it.

I have absolutely no interest in the World Cup or who's wins any kind of game.

It's just a bit of fun isn't it?

TheSarcasticFringehead · 16/06/2014 16:42

I love it. I had a hard choice between choosing England (where I'm from) and the US (where. I've lived for over a decade, where my DC are born and where I hope to spend the rest of my life).

OwlCapone · 16/06/2014 16:42

There is football everywhere now. It's possible to hide the World Cup topic on MN and pretend it's not happening but now there are flags everywhere.

SarahAndFuck · 16/06/2014 16:44

"We've had the Olympics, Winter Olympics, rugby and cricket world cups in recent years and not a sniff of recognition."

Well we've got to start somewhere or there'd still be not a sniff. Smile

ICanSeeTheSun · 16/06/2014 16:44

I would like them to stay.

Morethanalittlebitconfused · 16/06/2014 16:44

Not pissing on chips just pissed off at the worship at the shrine of a sport we as a nation are abysmal at that's played by and supported by thugs.
