To go to my EPU scan tomorrow....

....when I am being ill regularly?

Last week I had a threatened MC and they are not sure if the baby is still alive or not. So I have an EPU scan tomorrow morning to see.

This weekend I started feeling rather nauseous and today I've been quite ill. I do not know if this is normal pg-related nausea (in which case it is presumably fine) or a bug or something, in which case I shouldn't really go to a ward full of pg women.

I am obviously desperate to find out if there is a heartbeat and our EPU is so stretched that if I move tomorrow's appt I am unlikely to get another scan for about 7-10 days. But I don't want to be selfish. I cannot get in touch with the EPU tonight to check with them as they are unstaffed.

The sickness comes in waves about every half hour or so and is quite intense. I cannot keep down food or liquid. Wwyd in this situation?

There must be a duty mw available . Can you call them and ask for suggestions , it may be related in which case you need to be seen more urgently.

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 15/06/2014 17:49

I'm sorry you're feeling so unwell at a horrible time.

Is it just vomiting, or is there diarrhoea as well? Just vomiting sounds more like bad morning sickness; d&v sounds like a bug. Do you have a temp/feel shivery? If so, prob a bug, if not, again, cd be morning sickness.

RevoltingPeasant · 15/06/2014 17:53

Thanks both. Lizs, the EPU is honestly just closed. I know cos I tried last week when I thought I was MC. Also my phone won't dial the new NHS direct number 111. It doesn't recognise it. Maybe I could call maternity?

Humpy no D, just V! No temp but constant low level nausea which rises up periodically. Mostly feel a strong urge to sleep. Does that sound like "morning sickness" to you?

jeanmiguelfangio · 15/06/2014 17:56

harriet247 · 15/06/2014 17:58

It sounds like morning sickness to me, keeping my fingers crossed for you x try not to fret about feeling ill, call up in the mornibg but for now send dh out ti get you some cold ginger beer

RevoltingPeasant · 15/06/2014 18:00

Thanks! Weirdly this makes me happy as if I am getting such strong morning sickness at six in the farking afternoon then maybe I have not MC after all. Unless it is a blighted ovum which is what my GP thinks :(

Do you not have a landline or know someone with a landline that you can use to ring 111?

RevoltingPeasant · 15/06/2014 18:01

No I don't Bun as BT cock up means LL not working.

Don't know neighbours well enough to ask either.

I think you should go to the EPU regardless. Fingers crossed for you

MrsMaturin · 15/06/2014 18:07

Vomiting is a symptom of pregnancy. No reason why you shouldn't go to the scan. I very much hope you find all is well.

softlysoftly · 15/06/2014 18:14

With no D I would still go.

Good luck.

buggerboooo · 15/06/2014 18:17

candycoatedwaterdrops · 15/06/2014 18:49

Wishing you luck for tomorrow. Flowers

If you're really worried, mention it when you get there and they might suggest an isolation room.

lunar1 · 15/06/2014 18:57

You need to go and find out, ive been there and every hour feels like a week when you are waiting for the scan. good luck.

strawberryangel · 15/06/2014 19:36

Good luck!

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 15/06/2014 20:38

No D and no temp sounds positive to me. I had appalling first tri nausea, and it was def in waves, first thing and last thing (so only ate lunch for three months!) so signs sound positive. Wishing you huge luck for tomorrow.

Elenorrigbywoes · 15/06/2014 21:11
