To sandpaper my feet

bellarations · 10/06/2014 15:01

I have a micropedi, the batteries are flat and the roller that's gets rid of the dry skin (sorry gross I know!) looks just like a piece of sandpaper. The soles of my feet look rather horrible.
I want to wear my sandals with shame.
So, is it manky to give them a quick once over with some sandpaper ?

Ouch!Shock

You need a soap and glory foot file. Best 7 quid you'll ever spend in Boots

Lozzapops · 10/06/2014 15:03

I probably would to be honest. I'm with you on the horrible feet, just can't seem to get them to stay nice. Is a micropedi any good?

jemstipp · 10/06/2014 15:03

Haha Im sure fine enough sandpaper is the same thing so plane away lol

bellarations · 10/06/2014 15:10

Thanks dame. Boots here I come!

Lozza. Yes I think it is, I only wear shoes if I go out, so my feet always need "help" to look nice.

Jem, thanks, great I'm off to the shed!

Not at all. I've done it many times.

YWBmoreU to spend seven quid on summat from Boots that does exactly the same thing IMO.

londonrach · 10/06/2014 15:24

Go and see a podiatrist on the www.feetforlife.co.uk website. I've had a few today with similar problems. Pedegg is good but please cream, cream, cream your feet. (White non perfumed cream like double base)

Icelollycraving · 10/06/2014 17:50

londonrach are you podiatrist?

londonrach · 10/06/2014 18:10

Yes

MrsWinnibago · 10/06/2014 18:13

I ALWAYS sandpaper my feet. They are beyond any poncy pedi bollocks. Sandpaper is fine. Use a fine grade and go easy.

I have also been known to use the sponge pan scrubber on my rough thighs.

I am half woman, half potato.

SnookyPooky · 10/06/2014 18:14

Agree with Dame, the be all and end all of foot files.
I found mine in the bath accessories aisle at Boots, with with the nail brushes, back scrubbers etc.

Icimoi · 10/06/2014 18:14

Why would you spend £7 on something new from Boots rather than just getting batteries for your micropedi?

Thumbwitch · 10/06/2014 18:16

I use the Body Shop fakey blue pumice thing. It's fab. Good shape for feet as well.

Drink more water too, that helps. :)

BuzzardBird · 10/06/2014 18:25

Mr Winnibago is one lucky man! Grin

CMOTDibbler · 10/06/2014 18:27

DH uses a dremmel on his feet Hmm

Icelollycraving · 10/06/2014 18:34

Could I ask your advice about really painful fissures (I think they are called) on my heels? I use scrubs, files etc & creams but really suffer with them. I only use the scrub on the other parts of the soles. I did read you can use nail glue but was a bit frightened to try!

Chippednailvarnish · 10/06/2014 18:38

DH uses a dremmel on his feet.

Reminds me of the film "Dumb and Dumber", when they used a grinder on their toenails!

MrsWinnibago · 10/06/2014 18:39

Icelolly use Scholl Foot cream. It's for cracked heels...you need to put it on twice or three times a day...after applying, put on some socks. It works.

londonrach · 10/06/2014 18:42

Ice lolly you tried flexitol and putting it on every night and wearing socks, also do you wear flip flops or open backed shoes as that dries the skin out. Also get thyroid check if skin dry. What washing power you using? Difficult without seeing feet....

WeirdCatLady · 10/06/2014 18:42

PedEgg all the way here. Looks like a cheese grater but doesn't hurt.

WowOoo · 10/06/2014 18:43

Bellarations - thank you for making me actually bother to look at the state of my feet!

MrsWinnibago - Grin
Now I come to think of it I have a body scrubber thing that is pretty similar to a scouring sponge. You are a genius.

Putting cream on your feet - is it best to do this at night with socks on?
I might try very fine grade sandpaper too.

Lesuffolkandnorfolk · 10/06/2014 18:44

You want a cream with at least 12% UREA. Gobbles up all that keratin. Yum

londonrach · 10/06/2014 18:44

Cat lady agreed makes a difference for patients but if you have diabetes or neuropathic etc you shouldn't use it.

EyelinerQueen · 10/06/2014 18:48

I didn't rate the Soap and Glory file at all. Most disappointing after all the rave reviews on here.

Love my micropedi but am now tempted to give sandpaper a go in the interest of frugality Grin .

Fcukfifa · 10/06/2014 18:52

I use scholl crackled heel cream, in 3 days my feet are like baby's bums!

Half woman, half potato has seriously tickled me Grin
