To sandpaper my feet

I have a micropedi, the batteries are flat and the roller that's gets rid of the dry skin (sorry gross I know!) looks just like a piece of sandpaper. The soles of my feet look rather horrible.
I want to wear my sandals with shame.
So, is it manky to give them a quick once over with some sandpaper ?

EyelinerQueen I didn't either. Very disappointed in it. The micropedi on the other hand, is bloody brilliant.

MrsWinnibago · 10/06/2014 18:55

Eyeliner I suspect those who admire the Soap and Glory file have a leeetle teeeny bit of dry skin and not a solid inch of hoof like I do.

I really AM half woman half potato. I don't know why people are laughing. Hmm See...that's me with DH lovingly holding my head.

EyelinerQueen · 10/06/2014 19:00

Grin Winnibago

My feet weren't in that bad nick. Just a wee bit hoof-y at the heels. I just found the S&G file incredibly mediocre. No matter how much elbow grease I put in.

My micropedi only has to touch the surface of my foot and the skin is falling like fairy dust Grin . Love it!

On the subject of the best cream for intensively moisturising feet, what say ye? Would E45 work?

I've been using my La Roche Posay which is not a very purse friendly option Sad .

bellarations · 10/06/2014 19:11

Mrs Winnibago, I'm still laughing at your potato.
Thank you for your replies.
Will try cracked heel cream, that sounds just what I need.
Seems s&g file gets the thumbs down.
More batteries it is.
In the meantime "fine" sandpaper did a great job, putting e45 cream and socks tonight.
Thanks for all the great tips.

I've used flexitime, scholl cream & currently using Margaret dabbs line. My feet look nice for a day or two after an intense pedicure with a scalpel but my feet look like one of the before pictures on those products & I'm really self conscious of them Blush :(

MrsWinnibago · 10/06/2014 19:20

Lolly do you walk about barefoot all the time? I do and that's why mine are so bad. If I MAKE myself wear shoes or flip flops around the house and garden, then they improve fast.

Icelollycraving · 10/06/2014 19:22

I walk around barefoot at home, wear ballet flats outside or boots if it's cold. They got a bit better in winter when I was wearing socks, slippers etc.

Oldraver · 10/06/2014 19:23

I have used an old cheese grater on my Mums feet, the one thats supposed to be for zesting.

You need to have a look on the Footner thread...there is a link to a poster who photo-ed its use...it is astonishing

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 10/06/2014 19:24

I had huge thick dry skin and I love my foot fileGrin

MrsWinnibago · 10/06/2014 19:24

Lolly defo put socks on with that cream...the Scholl stuff...and do it whenever you think of it. I average 3 a day when mine are bad and the improvement is so quick. Within a week.

GarlicJuneBlooms · 10/06/2014 19:25

YANBU, I sandpaper mine Grin Actually, the Black & Decker mouse with fine paper is as good as the chiropodist - although much noisier.

MeanwhileHighAboveTheField · 10/06/2014 19:31

I haven't RTFT but I have been recommending this on here for ages. I do it all the time or even better dh does it for me...)

LadySybilLikesCake · 10/06/2014 19:32

I have a scholl file that I stole borrowed from my sister 20 years ago. She never used it and it would have been mean to give it back to her once used. Trick is to use it when you've just got out of the bath, then smother them in cream. Keeps them baby soft.

Eminybob · 10/06/2014 19:36

I like to use one of those scalpel type things (a proper pedicure one, not an actual scalpel) that literally shaves the hard skin off. Then buff.

BosomBunnies · 10/06/2014 21:49

Might be tempted to try one of the Ped Egg things, I find Body Shop body butter is great for slathering on feet before bed, and then pop a pair of socks on it's the only time I manage to keep them on in bed

Pregnantagain7 · 10/06/2014 21:54

oldraver omg I used those footner socks for the first time a few weeks ago they are amazing, my whole foot literally peeled off leaving me with new feet! Would really recommend them :)

rootypig · 10/06/2014 22:01

MrsWinnibago you made me pmsl, that is the funniest post I have ever seen on MN

Re footner, I have done it several times and though it is astonishing and discgustingly addictive, my skin is always back to being hard as old boots in a few weeks, it doesn't last long at all. So I have reluctantly decided that I need to get into a proper footcare routine instead.

Icelolly my mum gets deep splits to her heels and I've inherited it (but only on my left foot, what's that about Confused). When you get bad painful ones, superglue it - not joking.

Meanwhile what are you recommending!?!? Grin

GarlicJuneBlooms · 10/06/2014 22:12

I'm Confused at how many of you got results from Footner! I kept mine on for over two hours, did the warm water soak, and just got a bit of peeling off the parts that were already soft. Perhaps I should've sandpapered my feet first, eh?

The active ingredient is lactic acid, all the others are humectants and binders. Has anybody tried soaking their feet in milk?

rootypig · 10/06/2014 22:14

Oh god footner turned me into a snake. I mean, just absurdly huge thick pieces of skin peeling off.

Got a craving to do it now Hmm

SilentCharisma · 11/06/2014 12:40

I've used my precision sander on my heels.

Never done me any harm!
