I love accents too.

FloozeyLoozey · 13/05/2014 20:18

Yes, I automatically feel more comfortable around people with regional accents, whatever they are. Conversely I usually feel ill at ease around posh/rp folk.

ShakeYourTailFeathers · 13/05/2014 20:20

I live in forrin climes and everyone lurrves my accent, apparently apart from the bloke at the bus stop yesterday who i had to repeat everything twice for

Grin

I miss the regional accents - love the Bolton one.

Momonga · 13/05/2014 20:22

Mine is very Essex-y. Where I live now (US) one of my colleagues has a posh Alabama accent, which I think is lovely.

WorraLiberty · 13/05/2014 20:29

I love accents, it's amazing how they can make you feel.

Southern Irish, Scottish and Geordie accents immediately put me at ease.

I hope I never meet a con artist with any of those accents or I'll end up skint Grin

MyrtleDove · 13/05/2014 20:29

I am from the West Mids but sound more Warwickshire than Brum, it's not as noticeable an accent. I love regional accents, especially rarer ones like Sussex accents.

Lorialet · 13/05/2014 20:33

Accents are fascinating. I come from Warwickshire, so don't really think I have much of one. I'd love to have a recognisable one ~ if I could choose I'd have a Dublin accent :)

BolshierAyraStark · 13/05/2014 20:47

I work with a lovely Geordie lad-can't tell a fucking thing he says to me but I adore his accent Grin

I'm from Sheffield & love our accent though oddly I'm often told I sound slightly Manc Hmm

Aaah, oright me babby! Day no yow were from round ear?

ChelsyHandy · 13/05/2014 20:56

Yes, I love most of them. Also the different uses of grammar, but consistently, e.g. in a Yorkshire accent.

GrassIsSinging · 13/05/2014 20:58

I love them, too! Always interested in different dialects and funny regional slang.

I'm a Londoner. I think cockney accents are probably the most hated (after Brummy Grin)...but I am unapologetic, mate!

FunnysInLaJardin · 13/05/2014 21:00

I do like a good East Mids accent. No one can place it but we all know who we are

ey up mi duck etc etc

gratefulforwhatihavegot · 13/05/2014 21:03

Oooh ya bleeder!

nobodysbabynow · 13/05/2014 21:03

Lancs accent here, but I instantly warm to people with Black Country and Brum accents. Arbinya Owllady?

MagnaCharge · 13/05/2014 21:05

I like some of the northern ones. I however am from Birmingham so would love to not have one.

WitchWay · 13/05/2014 21:21

I'm from Nottingham but live in North Yorkshire. I love hearing a Midlands accent at work & usually ask where they're from.
Grin

SanityClause · 13/05/2014 21:23

I could listen to Welsh people speaking all day!

usuallysuspect · 13/05/2014 21:31

I can always spot an East Midlands accent.

ElkTheory · 13/05/2014 21:40

I love them too! I also adore learning about regional vocabulary and turns of phrase.

(I'm expecting someone to come on this thread and reveal how they "shudder" when they hear someone speaking in a regional accent and how they just want their children to speak "properly." Wait for it.)

Owllady · 13/05/2014 21:44

:o
