Love it!! GrinGrinGrin

EverythingsDozy · 08/05/2014 13:09

That is me persuaded! (Even if I was already!) Grin

Mignonette · 08/05/2014 13:09

Wonderful. Short, clear answers appeal to the cognitive abilities of the might vote UKCRAP lot too Smile

Nancy66 · 08/05/2014 13:10

ha. excellent. I also find that asking:" immigration aside, what do you make of their policies on things like education and health?"

that usually brings a silence.

Mignonette · 08/05/2014 13:13

Yes I kept one of our local candidates quite busy with a question about mental health policy in our region.

adsy · 08/05/2014 13:38

So, whats the green party's policy on education?

Mignonette · 08/05/2014 14:17

Sedum roofs on all schools maybe? Grin

shitatusernames · 08/05/2014 14:19

Well that's helped me decide Grin, was thinking about it the other day, and after seeing him on Sky News being interviewed by Kay Burley that was swaying me away too, but then I don't want to vote for any of the others.

BigRedBall · 08/05/2014 17:31

Bump!

I had someone post a UKIP leaflet through the letterbox today. A real UKIP member. Toddler bought it to me, so I ran out and gave it back to him and said "I don't want this, I'm not voting for them". He went all quiet and took it back.I told him I don't vote for racists and went back inside.

The Green Party actually do have (IMO, reasonable) policies beyond the environment, e.g. - policy.greenparty.org.uk/ed.html

It makes me a bit sad that people talk about UKIP as a 'protest vote' against the current similarity of all the three main parties. Couldn't you protest vote to a more pleasant party - such as the Greens?! Sad

softlysoftly · 08/05/2014 18:45

DD1came home with her drawings and cut outs from MILs house the other day, MIL uses junk mail for the kids craft stuff.

Half of them were on UKIP literature, MIL can't read English.

Wasn't sure whether to be :( or Grin at it going totally over her head

morethanpotatoprints · 08/05/2014 18:51

Ha, well we know Conservative and Liberal policies on education, don't we.
I'm sure even UKIP couldn't make a worse job of it.

ManWithNoName · 08/05/2014 18:57

UKIP do have an education policy.

Return to grammar schools and parents getting vouchers to spend in state or private schools.

There is more to their education policy than that and it is definitely unfair to say they have no education policy. Frankly I think a return to grammar and a voucher system would be popular with many middle class voters.

Teaching unions would hate it of course. Grin

GatoradeMeBitch · 08/05/2014 19:21

I think the Green party have some decent policies, I don't know why they're so overlooked. They've been around long enough to be taken seriously now.

-Reverse NHS privatization
-Scrap tuition fees
-Shared maternity & paternity leave
-Legalization of marijuana
-Support for addicts instead of prison sentences
-Gender based equal pay audits
-Complete equal rights for gay people
-Higher minimum wage
-Non-profit banks, and separate retail & investment banks
-Public ownership of energy transfer infrastructure, and rail re-nationalization
-Investment in low-carbon technology, and UK technology, manufacturing and finance sectors

They seem to have more basic human empathy than the other parties. I'm not really seeing them as just a protest vote anymore.

redandchecker · 08/05/2014 19:23

Brilliant

adsy · 08/05/2014 19:25

-Complete equal rights for gay people don't we already have this?
And we have non profit banks / credit unions.
and we invest billions in low carbon technology and energy
and the minimum wage is as high as it can be
And we have gender based equal pay rights.
Are the Green party a party from the 1940's?!!

MuttonCadet · 08/05/2014 19:25

Gatorade that all sounds incredibly expensive, what their policy on tax?

I have shared the UKIP, but I would unfriend anyone I serious thought would consider voting for them.

Ratbagcatbag · 08/05/2014 19:27

I get it, that UKIP are bad. BUT I have the choice of those or the main three, I vote every time without fail, they are a protest vote choice, I'm stuck what else to do unless the change the ballot paper and give it a "no party gets my vote" box. :(

MuttonCadet · 08/05/2014 19:29

Ratcat there are way more parties than that, please don't vote UKIP even as a protest - you're just encouraging them Sad

AndHarry · 08/05/2014 19:35

I got a UKIP leaflet through the door a couple of weeks ago. Apart from anything else, all their candidates in my region are white, mostly middle-aged men Hmm

I'm a loyalty-free swing voter but I think the European Parliament is as pointless as China's National People's Congress so I'm undecided on whether to vote for the Greens or to spoil my ballot.

justkeeponsmiling · 08/05/2014 20:58

Oh god so funny!!

hotcrosshunny · 08/05/2014 21:29

and the minimum wage is as high as it can be

Er no it isn't.

diaimchlo · 08/05/2014 21:39

I cannot imagine why anyone would even think of voting for UKIP even as a protest vote not a good strategy at all.
