CalamitouslyWrong · 08/05/2014 22:24

Green Party education policy. Plenty of it.

TalkinPeace · 08/05/2014 22:27

SPLENDID.

And to all those who do not normally vote / cannot face voting for any of the fuckwits on offer.

Tell them so.
Go to the polling station and spoil your ballot.
THen the politicians will ALL know that you are angry not apatheic

"You are all hypocritical freeloaders" is my current idea

I live in SE London in an inner London borough. It's about as racially mixed round us as you could find anywhere. UKIP have (oddly) paid for billboards in New Cross and up the Old Kent Road - I can only assume they were hoping to catch the eye of commuters driving in from Kent. They have stupidly left blank light-coloured bits on these posters near the bottom. The resourceful folk of SE London have added their own slogans to these posters. UKIP = scum was one. Fuck off UKIP was another. Gladdened my heart!

LividofLondon · 09/05/2014 09:04

This is an eye opener too. Bit long but worth the time I think as it points out the lies UKIP are spouting:

Brilliant links, all of them!

I've read their policies and can't find anything vaguely racist. Where does this notion come from (serious question)

BerniesBurneze · 09/05/2014 10:19

Ratbag - spoil your ballot paper, it does get counted. You can not choose any option and just write whatever you want on it.

A vote for UKIP is not a protest vote, it is a vote for UKIP Hmm

BuzzardBird · 09/05/2014 10:27

I suggest you watch the video posted by Livid Fumi

LividofLondon · 09/05/2014 10:52

Feminist ladies of child bearing age, if you don't read anything else please give some thought on what's said on around the 23:40 mark...

"...Economic spokesman, Godrey Bloom said "no self respecting small businessman with his brain in the right place would ever employ a lady of child bearing age". He applied for a position on the Woman's Rights Committee at the European Parliament saying "I'm here to represent Yorkshire women who always have dinner on the table when you get home". He also said he wanted to deal with women's issues because "I just don't think they clean behind the fridge enough".

As comedian Stewart Lee said , "...a protest vote for UKIP is like shitting your hotel bed as a protest against bad service then realising you now have to sleep in a shitted bed..."

FumiYamamoto · 09/05/2014 11:13

Livid - I started to watch your video clip but it wasn't very watchable tbh - and it is only one man (teenager's) view.

I hadn't heard of Godfrey Bloom so looked him up. He sounds like a thoroughly unlikeable and very strange person and he's not now a member of UKIP.

All parties have at some point had weird people attached to them, so that doesn't really prove anything either.

LividofLondon · 09/05/2014 11:50

"...Livid - I started to watch your video clip but it wasn't very watchable tbh - and it is only one man (teenager's) view..."

How much did you watch? It covers a large number of very interesting topics IMO. And at least this one teenager appears to have highlighted some anomalies between what UKIP have said and what the facts are, especially regarding the EU. I'm not going to vote for them because I don't agree with their policies, but if I was planning to I'd certainly like to check whether this young man is the BSer or whether UKIP are not quite what they seem. Wouldn't you Fumi?

Political parties are always going to have the odd issue or extremist, but if we're going to vote we should damn well know what we are voting for IMHO, and not just blindly take what they say as the truth.

bigdeal · 09/05/2014 12:29

hilarious Hmm

prh47bridge · 09/05/2014 13:03

I've read their policies and can't find anything vaguely racist

I don't think they are a racist party in the same way as the BNP. The BNP has racist policies. UKIP doesn't but some of their candidates have expressed racist views.

UKIP were founded to get the UK out of the EU which is perfectly legitimate. However, if you campaign to leave the EU and end EU free movement you will attract both legitimate supporters and those with more toxic motives. They have not been very good at policing themselves with the result that some of their candidates have gone seriously off message with comments that are racist, homophobic, misogynist, etc.

Is Nick Griffin racist? Clearly yes. Is Nigel Farage racist? I don't think so.

There would be no point campaigning to get Griffin to expel all racists from the BNP. There would be no-one left. There certainly is a point in challenging Farage to kick racists out of UKIP.

I do not support UKIP. I would never vote for UKIP even if they were the only party on the ballot paper. I think it is a party that contains racists but I do not currently think it can really be called a racist party. Whether or not it becomes a racist party depends on how willing Farage is to fulfil his promise to clean up the party's act.

TalkinPeace · 09/05/2014 16:38

Its great all the Rural types with their UKIP posters, forgetting that the RPA money comes from Europe ......

Farage is not racist. He is a hypocrite.

softlysoftly · 09/05/2014 17:58

PRH47 that is possibly one of the only posts on UKIP that have stopped and made me re-think.

Don't get me wrong I would still chew off my arm than vote for them BUT I think it is a very very valid point. Do I see Nigel as the same as Nick Griffin, no. He is probably casually racist, homophobic and a class based twit but then so is David Cameron and probably a lot of the labour party.

TucsonGirl · 09/05/2014 18:35

The Greens are a bunch of nutters. They'd have us compulsary working in fields like in Swastika Night. UKIP are the only option if you want us out of the EU, none of the main parties will even consider this, even Labour who it makes no sense for them to not have it as a key policy.

TalkinPeace · 09/05/2014 19:02

but all sane people do not want out of the EU
because the UK has enough of a problem being on the arse end of nowhere nowadays even WITH the free market

hotcrosshunny · 09/05/2014 19:31

TucsonGirl prove it? Where have the greens said that ffs?

Leaving the EU would be idiocy.
