Manshape is used by one poster, for a specific reason, and you should get over it. Said nicely.

There is nothing wrong with husband or DH.
The others are just too twee for me.

DH/DW/DP are the normal MN idiom. Sharing language is an important part of how communities self-identify and iteration is a binding factor.

Choosing differently marks you out as newcomer or outsider.

If the speech of a group is anathema to you, then you are better off seeking a different group.

That's not just MN, or even just Internet btw, it's all human (and many other animal) communities.

I hate the way everyone uses DH, DD, etc on here, even worse when they use DC's (so you have 'darling' children's', do you??) Don't see why it's so hard to say partner, husband, daughter etc.

vlad - yes! Someone I know posted a photo album on fb of their "six month anniversary outing" - of dating that is. I think ive become cynical in my old age, but that's the kind of thing you do at 14 isn't it?!
