To think Countryfile has it's head up its own arse.

On what plant do the BBC think the majority of the population want to watch one of the presenters on Countryfile strutting around her fucking huge 'orchard' planting seeds.

Hardly representative of most people's circumstances is it?

Bugger- planet not plant!

squoosh · 06/04/2014 20:15

Do people only want to watch things that are representative of their own circumstances?

MrsKoala · 06/04/2014 20:17

I love countryfile. Perfect Sunday viewing. I'm a city girl so i love the scenery. It's tourism for me. A bit like a Constable painting in it's day - Viewers have no idea whether what they say is true but as typical city dwellers, they love the romanticism associated with the countryside.

RandomMess · 06/04/2014 20:17

I think it would be more helpful if the explained the wider economics of the farming industry!

Bearbehind · 06/04/2014 20:17

Not at all but why is it necessary to plant seeds on an estate bigger than most of the neighbourhoods everyone else lives in when the other people planting such seeds will do so in a window box/ tiny garden.

I like Countryfile! I must admit Princess Anne pissed me off tonight though. The weather forecasts are pretty accurate.

Bearbehind · 06/04/2014 20:19

I'm a country girl but really don't see the need for it's presenters to brag about how big their 'orchards' are!

OP posts:
MrsKoala · 06/04/2014 20:21

Shock don't you all have big orchards tho Bear? Don't shatter my countryside fantasy! Wink

Methe · 06/04/2014 20:21

I love it and watch it every week :)

I ordered the seeds and am going to go and plant them in a rough area on the park on my council estate.

Fortysomethingwinelover · 06/04/2014 20:22

Bearbehind not everyone lives on an estate. We don't, we live on a farm. We plant trees every year on the land we don't use for grazing. We also plant potatoes and corn as it's a huge part of our livelihood.

Normalisavariantofcrazy · 06/04/2014 20:22

I love countryfile and I'm from the burbs (but border lush countryside)

Bearbehind · 06/04/2014 20:22

PMSL mrskoala and methe I hadn't realised I was actually 'living the dream'

YABU I love Countryfile and ignore any heads in arses.

squoosh · 06/04/2014 20:24

Well I'm feeling inspired to phone the head gardener at my country estate to instruct him to plant some seeds in all our orchards tomorrow.

Jesuisunepapillon · 06/04/2014 20:24

I love it too. Gardener's world does tons for small gardens, this is a programme mostly about farming and the countryside, why shouldn't they feature a large orchard?

Bowlersarm · 06/04/2014 20:24

YABU! Extremely. Ellie is very lovely.

Bearbehind · 06/04/2014 20:26

That's exactly my point fortysomeething. Prancing around what you claim to be your 'orchard, which is actually a ginormous section of land, is hardly representative of anyone's life- farmers or not.

OP posts:
gordyslovesheep · 06/04/2014 20:26

Blimey it's becoming a weekly rant this one - who'd have thunked a farming show could stir up such ire Grin

dementedma · 06/04/2014 20:31

I actually thinkthat Princess Anne talks a lot of sense

Bearbehind · 06/04/2014 20:34

I thought Princess Anne was really down to earth, which given her status, is very ironic when you have one of the presenters lording it up on her land.

Fortysomethingwinelover · 06/04/2014 20:35

bearbehind I will now refer to the acres of land that my husband farms as my orchard lol. Aye, I can see the response I'll get from him at 2.30 in the morning while he's staggering around with tiredness bring more lambs in, "Yes dear, next time you go up the orchard to check the sheep sprinkle these free flower seeds for me will you?" I'll keep the free flower seeds for a more appropriate moment I think lol

Bearbehind · 06/04/2014 20:38

Lol fortysomething- good plan- otherwise I'm thinking the seeds might end up where the sun don't shine!

I love it. Just nice to see what other people are doing. I think there are a lot of people who get a lot from it.

Philoslothy · 06/04/2014 20:43

PaulinesPen · 06/04/2014 20:44
