Easter bonnet politics

DC's nursery had a 'wear a hat' day for charity the other week and the nursery manager suggested making a hat for the occasion so we did; I made the basic frame, DC (3) papier-mache'd it, painted it and decorated it. A few days later nursery announce an Easter bonnet competition, with emphasis on kids own work. AIBU to decorate homemade hat with chicks, eggs and rabbits to enter? DH says it's a cheeky gesture! First world problem innit!

it's fine, it will be unreconisable with all the easter stuff on it anyway!

Recycle. I did this, changing an Easter bonnet into a Royal wedding hat.

Had to link to the funniest easter bonnet thread ever!

And NYANBU, perfectly sensible thing to do.

Does anybody actually allow the DC to do it.

As much as DD is creative I wouldn't trust her with the fabric and superglue, which is the only think that works to stick the things on.

I thought it was a bit mean TBH, I work full tilme and the initial hat was a real labour of love. DC loves the hat and thinks it's reincarnation is genius! He put as much work as he could have into it!
