ok.. so waiting in for the second day for the boiler man to come.. i decided to watch a scary movie... seeing as i cant watch them at night or on my own (thats a whole other thread) figured itd be a good time.

its not as bad as i thought it was going to be ... and could have been alot worse. but the storyline is what makes it scary imo, even more so that i could see it one day h appening?... maybe... its not that far fetched really is it? aibu to think is could possable happen, and to think its not much different to the hunger games... though i would say the purge was fairer then HG.

Don't know about the film but can I join you waiting for boiler man, also second day.

Currently in a blanket in an icy house feeling stinky since no hot water for shower.

ICanSeeTheSun · 25/03/2014 14:41

It could but I would still question anybody would would want to commit an awful crime like murder even it is was legal for 24 hours.

wonderingsoul · 25/03/2014 14:42

its not nice is it.. been w ith out since last thursday... apperently they had to wait for a part to come in... soo having a nice hot bath tonight.

for thouse who dont know what the flim is about.. basic run down is in 2022 america have one day a year where all crimes, including murder is allowed for 12 hours.. hench the purge.
apprently this made the country better.. no crime.. 1% unemployment ... it was done for the greater good basicly.

I've seen that film and thought it was abit silly, how many people want to get murders 'out of their system' Grin

well i can see the "lodgic" behind it ... if you coudl get away with it.. for one day a year youd save that anger for that day... instead of risking going to jail or being put to sleep for doing any other day? i could see how that would make crime levels fall drastically..

its a scary thought really.

sounds like a load of old bollocks to me.

so one day year serial killers rule? do people have to hide on that day?

hope your boiler gets fixed soon.

ICanSeeTheSun · 25/03/2014 14:46

My purge would to transfer the ownership of every social media site.

After the 12 hours I will be rich.

Turquoisetamborine · 25/03/2014 14:47

I think I'd go on holiday that day.

EthelDorothySusan · 25/03/2014 14:49

Most people would be holed up in their house like the main family, you would only get a few percent going out killing as they are that personality type anyway. They will be the 1 percent still committing detected reported crime.

I would not put out blue flowers and probably would not have let the homeless Man in either, as I would have been scared he would harm us.

They should have put in a panic room instead.

GinSoakedMisery · 25/03/2014 14:49

What I didn't understand about the film was that it was done at night. Wouldn't it be easier during the day?

wonderingsoul · 25/03/2014 14:50

turquoise i thought that to... every one on lock down who didnt want to partake .. why didnt they just go on hoilday?

so on that one day they let in a stranger? twats? what's with the blue flowers.

usuallyright · 25/03/2014 14:51

most murders aren't premeditated though, they're spur of the moment or crimes of passion. And generally speaking, when they're premeditated, the murderer has a good idea of the when and the how etc..I doubt they'd care to wait for the alloted 12 hour window.

wonderingsoul · 25/03/2014 14:52

yesss.. a panic room .. its so bloody simple...

also why didnt they just stay all together in one room with all the guns?... i cant stand it when flims dont follow common sense.

though i think i may have let the man in.. id like to think i would have.

The family were in a big house with a recent add on, funded by sales to the neighbours high tech security/protection.

The family are all over the house, the boy lets in the homeless Man when the parents are in another room. The homeless Man was followed by women in white linen dress's and Men in suits wearing masks, wielding all manor of nasty objects.

The purgers want the homeless Man.

Sparklysilversequins · 25/03/2014 15:00

I thought that the idea behind that film was great but the actual movie was rubbish. It started out really creepy and then just got a bit dull and predictable. Could have been a lot better.

I would be booking my fortnightly holiday abroad every year, with The Purge right in the middle of it.

wonderingsoul · 25/03/2014 15:02

sparkly i have to agree... the idea was good..and scary... but like alot of flims could have written better. i think abit more info on about the night and how it came about would have been better to.

OP posts:
HuskyBlueEyes · 25/03/2014 15:42

I bet airlines would be so packed you'd have to book well in advance, and considering the under plot of that film was to wipe out the poor and the poor couldn't easily afford a holiday.
Damn thats a nasty thought.

IdkickJilliansAss · 25/03/2014 16:24

Grin at saving your anger up! I don't think most murderers would give a damn about risking jail or death row
