for her put down to LJ printed in today's DM www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/article-2587124/LIZ-JONES-If-trolls-joy-I-wake-scared-day.html

She apparently knows the poster IRL

Liz knows the poster in rl?

So if the allegation is untrue, Liz could sue her. Not sure where that leaves mumsnet.

Nancy66 · 23/03/2014 15:27

Hmmm. I side with LJ on this.

She was named and accused of something that could harm her career. Maybe it has. Maybe it's not the end of the matter.

Kudzugirl · 23/03/2014 15:29

Yes I was looking out for Nanny - I meant no malice by my posts about deletion. Flowers

littledrummergirl · 23/03/2014 15:30

Honeydragon Grin how much is that worth do you think?
Thanks for the correction Thumbwitch, its good to have the facts right.
Standards dropping Honeydragon, surely that should have been the other way around?

Thumbwitch · 23/03/2014 15:32

Oh that's ok - I wasn't being all accusatory or anything, just pointing out that it was the same as what LJ had said herself so didn't think it would be a problem :)

Didn't realise you hadn't read the article linked to in the OP, sorry.

cerseissword · 23/03/2014 15:33

Yes bluepen - LJ wrote a few weeks ago that she had only just found out about the thread - which is a bit odd as there were lots of comments on the DM site about it.
According to LJ the OP was in the same social circle as LJ's boyfriend.

OP posts:
Kudzugirl · 23/03/2014 15:33

I didn't think you were Thumb Smile. The threads move so fast that cross posts can make things look a little awkwardly arranged on the page.

bluepen · 23/03/2014 15:37

Could LJ have a case against mumsnet, if mumsnet were shown to be slow to act?

Nanny0gg · 23/03/2014 15:39

Thanks to all for watching out for me! Flowers

I only posted what I did as she had written it herself.

I think she would benefit from a slightly lower profile...

NewtRipley · 23/03/2014 15:43

Of all the things that could harm her career, I think cocaine is bottom, surely. Nothing can stop the Juggernaut of self-harming confession that is LJ.

Thumbwitch · 23/03/2014 15:44

Ha, Kudzugirl - never a truer word spoken! My posts take me so long to write sometimes, or I get distracted before pressing "Post" and then it's all moved on by the time my post is added! Grin

Bluepen - yes, I believe so - if they allowed libellous statements to stand after their attention had been drawn to it, and didn't remove it within 24h (?) then she could have a case against them. I remember reading something about it a few years back, pretty sure the Problem with GF/SWMNBN was one of the reasons that laws were changed, but I could be misremembering.

bluepen · 23/03/2014 15:52

Either slow to act to taking down the post. Or slow to act as regards to the timing of the reply to the complaint from mumsnet.

MiscellaneousAssortment · 23/03/2014 15:54

Good lord that woman does like to make a fuss doesn't she?

Kudzugirl · 23/03/2014 15:56

Nope, a low key life- that's Liz.

bluepen · 23/03/2014 15:59

So does Justine know the poster in rl?

And the poster is NannyOgg?

Upandatem · 23/03/2014 16:00

This reply has been deleted

Message withdrawn at poster's request.

NewtRipley · 23/03/2014 16:03

Don't all meeja types take drugs?

Thumbwitch · 23/03/2014 16:03

Bluepen - you're making a lot of random assumptions. NannyOgg has just made a post on this particular thread, talking about the issue, mentioning the fact that LJ was supposedly seen taking cocaine by another MNer, who LJ knows in RL.

Justine knows who the MNer is through her login, which has an email address that would get back to the RL poster, of course.

bluepen · 23/03/2014 16:05

Cripes Newt. Are you saying something against Justine?

Thumbwitch · 23/03/2014 16:07

Upandatem - isn't it illegal? that might have something to do with why they don't want to be falsely accused of it

NewtRipley · 23/03/2014 16:07

bluepen

Lawks, no. She's an ontrapanoor, not a meeja type. Unless you know different.....

PartialFancy · 23/03/2014 16:08

IIRC, the thread didn't stand for anywhere near 24 hours, but was a late night thread and didn't get deleted till day time.

NewtRipley · 23/03/2014 16:08

Btw

I think we should use cripes and lawks a bit more on here.

Rosa · 23/03/2014 16:13

Another regular poster here who hasn't a clue who she is ....

Thumbwitch · 23/03/2014 16:22

Newt, of course Justine was a meeja type! She used to write about Sport for the Torygraph, I believe.
