To hate it when people sell things in bad condition?!

We've been looking for a new highchair for dd, something without a tray that can be pulled up to the kitchen table so that she's higher than eye level with the table!

The best one we could find was selling in Argos for £79.99, but I posted an ad on a local Facebook selling page and someone had one that was perfect for a fraction of the cost, the photo was lovely, she said it was in good condition, so we risked it.

Hubby's brought it home this evening and it's gross, there's mould all over the trim and round the back of it and it looks like it hasn't seen a clean since it was bought.

AIBU to think people should clean things before they sell them???? Or at least warn potential buyers of the condition!

true but you tend to get what you pay for unfortunately we have actually not bought something if it was in poor condition always ask to view first if they seem nice make an excuse if they are stroppy just leave your not doing them a favour your buying something you want to use

Whilst I agree with you, I always clean before selling, it is really am not shocked a lot don't and using elbow grease is a small price pay for a bargain.

To be fair I still clean everything when I get it home even if it is spotless

But get the ikea anti lop, it is about £12 without the tray brand new!

Yes completely agree! This has happened to me a couple of times, a jumperoo that the seat was all burst and a toy missing and a pair of mat jeans that were faded and bobbled at waist band.

People should be honest in their description and not say 'good condition' if it's not.

I'm also sick of people selling on ebay as 'brand new without tags' when it arrives the item has clearly been washed and worn Angry .

I'm about to sell mine (with a removable tray) and will remove and wash the covers and straps, clean the seat and body with flash and clear the grime. I suspect there will still be some gunk that defeats me though.

It is well used and well loved, but still has some use in it.

auditangel I think the point is don't sell it as 'good condition' then. If it's grimey and well used it isn't in good condition, just be honest about that in the description.

On that note, I used antilop for my twins, brilliant and if the tray breaks you only replace that, not that mine ever did, built really well.

I used to feed my boys on the patio on warm days (and not do warm) , strip them off, food all over the place, hose down with the garden hose, jobs a gooden.
No I did hose the twins ... But tempted ??

Also my db has just brought a few for his cafe on my recommendation and he loves them as the trays fit in his dish washer and he can sluice the main bodies down easily.

I've just bought an ELC sit me up cosy via eBay. I think the woman actually lifted her child off it and gave it to me. It was still inflated, and it was filthy! It wasn't listed in any particular condition, but seriously - pop it through the machine, love?!

I spent far too much on a 2nd hand dress from Boden which came completely worn out, good for nothing other than the rag bag. So disappointing and don't really feel that I have recourse via ebay as it was listed as used.

I've bought a few things in charity shops that turned out to have moth holes, ripped seams, stains and stuff. Probably my fault for not scrutinising more closely, but people should just chuck that stuff out instead of selling/donating it.

If it was so bad why didn't your DH leave it there and cancel the sale? To me that's the real advantage over eBay.

I would never buy a second had high chair they always end up totally gross however hard you try. But then I would never inflict mine on someone else. yanbu.

You could have saved yourself time, water and effort there. Why not leave the birds to do the cleaning up of your patio. They'd be grateful and I was.

I bought a highchaur that was mucky, took me 2 hours to strip it apart and clean ut. And it's shit.

get the ikea! You can run it through your dushwasher too
