Toad, yes, we use the 'c-word', but it is considered a vile insult. It's usually only directed at women & is about the worse thing you could call one. Most of us wouldn't use it unless pushed to the very limits of our tolerance.
In the coverage of this case that I've seen it appears to be a case of a spoiled child and surprised parents. It looks like she was pretty indulged by her parents to begin with and never learned limits. She's now gone off the rails and her 'completely shocked' parents then put the hammer down hard, after years of indulging her. I'm sure the whole debacle was a real surprise to all of them! (sarcasm)
Add to this a shark of a lawyer and you have a perfect witches brew. Her case has no merits. She won't collect a thing, but her parents might be ordered to pay the back-owed school tuition. To award her anything would set a legal precedent that would be a nightmare for any parent with a rebellious child.
