They haven't a leg to tend on though, have they?

TalkinPeace · 15/02/2014 18:02

no, but they could stand on the bollard Grin

PedantMarina · 15/02/2014 18:03

That said, those three horse freds were some of the most fun I've had on Mumsnet. And that's swearin'.

EndoplasmicReticulum · 15/02/2014 18:04

Oh, I didn't realise they were IOW bollards. I'll have to come and see the penguins next time I'm visiting. (I'm a caulkhead but I don't live there any more).

AnneEyhtMeyer · 15/02/2014 18:10

Will they be able to park in front of the bollards but still on your land? I wouldn't be surprised if bin lady tries this.

goodasitgets · 15/02/2014 18:13

Lurking as I have parking issues and remote control bollards sound just the job Wink

IOWers can be a bit crazy about parking, in my experience. We had problems with a lady opposite when I was growing up, her son ran a car-selling business from home so his "stock" was parked all over the place, complete with people coming to buy it, blocking everyone in etc.

My dad went to discuss it with her one day and she hit him around the head with a garden spade!

However he invoked the power of "islanders all knowing everyone" and got a mate at the council to sort it in our favour. Lady opposite was not native.

tb · 15/02/2014 18:22

Endo is that a bit like "M&S bollards" ie a super-refined type of bollard?

EndoplasmicReticulum · 15/02/2014 18:22

tb they probably have layers of multi-coloured sand in them.

It works! [need to get a life emoticon]

TidyDancer · 15/02/2014 18:26

Ooh I think I read a bit of the original thread back at the start, but have read through the whole thing this afternoon/evening.

Spectacular going, OP! Can't wait for batshit bin lady to kick off!

Jux · 15/02/2014 18:30

Oooh oooh oooh it worked!!! Thank you!

eddielizzard · 15/02/2014 18:31

i think you're in for a bit of unpleasantness but ultimately they don't have a leg to stand on. the ll should never have rented the flats with parking that didn't belong to him!

RandomMess · 15/02/2014 18:37
Grin
Jux · 15/02/2014 18:37

MrsDavid, I like the idea that you call the police and tell them of the abandoned cars. BinLady, is not going to let you 'take her space' (Hmm huh) without a fight.

hamptoncourt · 15/02/2014 18:41

I also suspect you will end up with having your door knocked at 2am or similar. Do you have earplugs OP?

If I were you I would maybe call the police and explain you are about to go on 2 weeks hollipops and see if they call round to get bin lady et al to remove their cards before you "go?"

I would be so tempted to actually really go away!!!

ZenNudist · 15/02/2014 18:44

So wishing you'd go out for the night. I have a rude neighbour who parks on our shared access drive so I share your pain.

nauticant · 15/02/2014 18:49

I love the purely literal thread title.

Sparklymommy · 15/02/2014 18:49

Hav now read the whole saga and genuinely cannot wait for an update. Hope the tenants don't get too nasty tho op. you sound as though you can do without the stress right now.

karatekimmi · 15/02/2014 18:52

I'd go out for a few days, maybe a house swap with a mner who doesn't know where the bollard key is?
