to think David Starkey is an utter ****

Anyone else watching Question Time? His utter, utter contempt for tube workers and the audience has pushed me from being slightly anti-striker to competely pro because of his horribly entitled and offensive responses. He can't even name Bob Crow correctly (called him Bill). Now I hate Bob Crow as much as the next person and am as grumpy as the next London commuter about the strike (OK, a bit less as I live in South London).... but the Mayor has refused to even meet the Union for five years, so I can see that there might be legitimate unheard grievances. This shower of ignorance just appears to be ignoring all of it and throwing petrol on the fire...

MardyBra · 06/02/2014 23:30

It's just easier to type cunt really.

DonnaDishwater · 06/02/2014 23:30

Tube workers are stuck in the 1970s I'm afraid.

MardyBra · 06/02/2014 23:30

Disclaimer: I didn't even watch Question Time.

GlaikitFizzog · 06/02/2014 23:31

Ooooh! New blank post!

He is still a knob though!

nelsonscolumn · 06/02/2014 23:31

And how rude was he to that girl in the audience. Since when has personal abuse been part of adult debate.

lessonsintightropes · 06/02/2014 23:32

Sorry, this is probably unintelligible for anyone not watching.

In brief, there was a balanced discussion about the rights of tube workers to strike, the issue they were striking over, and the relationship between the head of the RMT union in charge of the strike - Bob Crow - and the London mayor, Boris Johnson, who haven't met face to face for five years despite on average 7 strikes a year.

This man, a historian, came in with a bunch of inflammatory and ill advised comments accusing the striking workers of all manner of things, questioning their right to strike, and giving out abusive comment to audience members of Question Time who dared to agree with them and disagree with him.

I dislike him intensely after watching this session and think he has no idea about daily life for most people and given he's hardly reliant on public transport has no room to comment on either the strikers or London Joe Public who dare to support them.

I am pushed into this position despite thinking the tube badly needs modernising and that the workforce is a bit obstructive and generally reasonably well paid.

Didn't see that far, turned off when he started about different types of rape. The thick bastard

KissesBreakingWave · 06/02/2014 23:34

I know a few folks that were taught by him twenty years or so ago. They all thought calling him a despicabe misogynist cunt was a profound slur on the despicable misogynist cunt community.

lessonsintightropes · 06/02/2014 23:35

And yes, MardyBra, it could be cunt, knob, twat, arse, shit etc etc. Just trying to be less offensive than the individual ;)

HenriettaMaria · 06/02/2014 23:35

He isn't just contemptuous of tube workers though, is he? He has utter contempt for anyone who isn't him, basically.

Can't stand the fucker, frankly.

lessonsintightropes · 06/02/2014 23:36

KissesBreakingWave love it!

MorrisZapp · 06/02/2014 23:38

I never got that far. His confusion about what rape means was enough to get to to turn his fucking ugly mug off.

lessonsintightropes · 06/02/2014 23:45

I only switched on at 11.15 and was offended within the first three minutes, can only imagine his comments on a more sensitive and painful topic like rape would have switched me off beforehand.

Is he really just a better educated Katie Hopkins with a penis and more wrinkles?

Question Time has been dreadful for quite a number of weeks now. I had to stop watching. They should have a more balanced panel. That is not more than one complete

Sixweekstowait · 06/02/2014 23:54

I actually really seriously thought that Starkey was either drunk or showing signs of mental illness tonight

WildThong · 06/02/2014 23:58

QT was well balanced tonight, two cnuts, Galloway was there too, odious slimy creep.

Misspixietrix · 07/02/2014 07:26

I'm still trying to work out the Women and Left handed comments Confused.

HoratiaDrelincourt · 07/02/2014 07:34

I've had dinner with him. He's vile.
