to think David Starkey is an utter ****

Anyone else watching Question Time? His utter, utter contempt for tube workers and the audience has pushed me from being slightly anti-striker to competely pro because of his horribly entitled and offensive responses. He can't even name Bob Crow correctly (called him Bill). Now I hate Bob Crow as much as the next person and am as grumpy as the next London commuter about the strike (OK, a bit less as I live in South London).... but the Mayor has refused to even meet the Union for five years, so I can see that there might be legitimate unheard grievances. This shower of ignorance just appears to be ignoring all of it and throwing petrol on the fire...

He's an odd one. Totally obsessed with Elizabeth I.

Ilovexmastime · 07/02/2014 07:39

I only caught the last few minutes of QT and he still managed to make me angry, he was talking about women in politics I gather.

bodygoingsouth · 07/02/2014 07:45

he's a very very silly man as is George Galloway. both are self obsessed ignorant bores who unfortunately for them are nowhere near as clever or witty as they would like to be.

I thought Starky was drunk actually.

it must be a dreadful life to be so full if contempt and distain for others, both are sad lonely little blokes. pathetic really.

Misspixietrix · 07/02/2014 07:48

Horatio you poor soul :(

Pollydon · 07/02/2014 07:52

Starkey is a vile, nast twat. Had to turn over , he gives me the rage. Its unbelievable that they still give him airtime on the bbc.

dollius · 07/02/2014 08:05

I thought he was a nasty twat just by reading his book about Henry's six wives. Mysoginistic crap.

HoratiaDrelincourt · 07/02/2014 09:38

I'm fairly confident he neither understands nor likes Women, tbh.

Remember when Starkey was on that programme when Jamie Oliver bunged a load of slebs in a school to teach teenagers?Confused

SauceForTheGander · 07/02/2014 09:46

Horatia - did you stan him with your fork?

SauceForTheGander · 07/02/2014 09:47

Stan him?

Stab him you silly fat fingers!!

senua · 07/02/2014 09:52

All celebrities have to have a USP. I believe that Starkey's USP is to be "the rudest man in Britain". So he has to be vile etc to keep up his position on the League Table of Insufferableness.
It's such an act and so yawnsome. I usually switch off when he hoves into view.

Juliaparker25 · 07/02/2014 09:59

Dave has an innate ability to wind up all the yoghourt knitters in range of him , he has been doing it quite successfully for 30 years. As you can see from his wiki bio he is no dummy.

KissesBreakingWave · 07/02/2014 10:42

All that says is that yoghurt-knitters have some basic standards of human decency. I've no more respect for the lentil-weaving pinks than the cowards and traitors of the conservative end of the spectrum, but at least they don't see the likes of Starkey as worth the spit to insult him with. Useful man on the primary sources, but hasn't the brains of a potted ficus plant when it comes to figuring out human motivation.

DorisAllTheDay · 07/02/2014 10:46

I thought he was rude and obnoxious, and I've written to the BBC to ask that he's not invited again. He talked over everyone else, and when a woman from the audience struggled a bit for words he made fun of her. That's not on. I don't expect to agree with everything said by the QT panel, and some views are in my opinion rather obnoxious, but so long as they debate them with a basic level of respect for other panelists and the audience I think that's fair enough. Starkey doesn't do that. He should not be asked to participate again.

'I know a few folks that were taught by him twenty years or so ago. They all thought calling him a despicabe misogynist cunt was a profound slur on the despicable misogynist cunt community.'

Brilliant! Grin

HavantGuard · 07/02/2014 11:02

'They all thought calling him a despicabe misogynist cunt was a profound slur on the despicable misogynist cunt community. '

That's the most apt description of him I've seen.

squoosh · 07/02/2014 11:09

I could only watch five minutes, I would have watched more but yesterday's rage levels were already perilously high.

He's an utter cunt. Remember when he said in reference to the London riots "What has happened is that a substantial section of the chavs that you wrote about have become black."

Or this gem

"Listen to David Lammy, an archetypal successful black man. If you turn the screen off so that you are listening to him on radio you would think he was white."

Brainpower is THE aphrodisiac..... so erudite! He is hot!

DoctorQuinn · 07/02/2014 11:11

David Starkey is a wonderfully entertaining man when he's annoyed about something. Not only that but he talks a lot of sense.

The same is true of George Galloway.

Both are national treasures.

ginmakesitallok · 07/02/2014 11:15

God it must have been bad, even the school lollipop man was talking about it this am. Wish I'd seen it

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 07/02/2014 11:30

National Treasures - As in should be buried in a large hole with only a vague pirate map to find them Wink

flippinada · 07/02/2014 11:53

David Starkey is a deeply unpleasant individual and always has been.

He was around being obnoxious when I was doing A-Levels more than 20 years ago and hasn't improved inbetween times.
