WIBU to kick this dog?

MarmaladeShatkins · 29/01/2014 13:22

Grin

Sorry, I didn't kick a dog. I need some baking suggestions but no-one ever replies to threads asking for boring stuff, do they?

DS's school is doing a bake off and for those of you who remember, baking comes with much angst at our school. I won't be doing a lemon drizzle or cornflake cakes, though. Wink

I am going to try and do something like this as the theme is nature. But I want to do a relevant flavour of cake, but I am having a brain drain and can't think what to do.

Any suggestions gratefully received and I am sorry for tricking you into reading my thread. I can make up a story about kicking a dog if you like?

Manchesterhistorygirl · 29/01/2014 13:25

TheFutureSupremeRulersMum · 29/01/2014 13:25

MarmaladeShatkins · 29/01/2014 13:25

Apple and cinnamon is good!

Nuts are banned. I was going to do carrot with hazelnuts until I read that nuts were out. :(

Nutella has nuts in !!!!
I was going to say carrot

Topaz25 · 29/01/2014 13:27

When I look at that cake I think mint chocolate because of the colours of the grass and the earth. Or carrot cake would fit with the rabbit and the natural theme.

HavantGuard · 29/01/2014 13:27

Squirrel?

BigW · 29/01/2014 13:29

Marmalade I remember the lemon drizzle! I am not sure I am emotionally prepared for round two.

Please can I hear your made up dog story? I kicked a dog once because it looked at me funny. this is not true

Chippednailvarnish · 29/01/2014 13:29

Can't you do a sarcastic lemon orchard cake Grin

cogitosum · 29/01/2014 13:30

I was going to say walnut but as nuts are out it has to be carrot for the rabbits!

WhereIsMyHat · 29/01/2014 13:31

Nutella and banana. A marriage made in heaven!

LadyMud · 29/01/2014 13:34

Carrot cake is much nicer with sultanas instead of nuts, I think

MarmaladeShatkins · 29/01/2014 13:36

How do you incorporate Nutella into sponge? Just stir it into the mix, is it?

LOL at Lemon Orchard cake.

anchovies · 29/01/2014 13:36

No suggestions but your thread title worked on me Grin

MarmaladeShatkins · 29/01/2014 13:37

Sorry but sultanas give me the boak. I won't be able to eat any of the cake mixture if there's sultanas in it. Wink

OK, dog story...

Was getting onto the bus this morning and there was a disabled dog sitting in the pushchair area. I asked it to move and he tried to give me paw so I kicked it. WIBU?

Do you have Nigella's how to be a domestic goddess (or can you borrow a copy?). The rosemary loaf cake is divine (and quite unusual as you don't normally associate rosemary with sweet things).

Socks555 · 29/01/2014 13:42

Marmalade!!

What a cunning stunt (try saying that as a tongue twister)

I was about to shout that it's NEVER OK to kick a dog!

MarmaladeShatkins · 29/01/2014 13:43

Yes I do have that book, Weekend! I'll have a look in a sec. :)

MarmaladeShatkins · 29/01/2014 13:44

Oh come on. Sometimes it is OK to kick a dog. Does anyone remember when a dog shat on my picnic?!

Inertia · 29/01/2014 13:44

If nuts are banned , the wouldn't nutella also be banned?

You could do carrot cake with a cream-cheese based snowy scene atop it.

TheOneWithTheHair · 29/01/2014 13:44

Marmalade , you know you have to beat her don't you? No pressure!!

How about vanilla and orange?

BigW · 29/01/2014 13:46

Bastard. YANBU.

NynaevesSister · 29/01/2014 13:46

I NEED to know what sort of cake Lemon Drizzle mother turns up with.

I would be tempted to give it multiple layers in the colours of various soil substrates. You could then cut a slice out to show and include a stand next to it explaining the geology. Stick that in your pipe and smoke it Lemon Drizzle woman!

But otherwise I love mint choc too or carrot cake.

HarpyFishwifeTwat · 29/01/2014 13:48

It's only ok to kick if it sits in a P&C parking space without a puppy and refuses to move. Bastard.
