. . . to imagine that Jim Davidson is going to win Celebrity Big Brother?

Jim Davidson - for decades derided by other comedians as the ultimate in sexist racist dinosaurs - seems to be enjoying a new lease of life in this year's Celebrity Big Brother.

To be fair to him, his sexist and racist jokes were never particularly offensive by 1970's standards but, as the world of comedy moved on, Jim appeared to be firmly fixed in the comedic era in which he rose to fame and fortune.

He hasn't been seen on TV for quite some time but he seems now to be winning viewers' hearts all over again.

Could he really win?

If Linda keeps doing what she's doing, I imagine he could very well win, yes.

SuperStrength · 17/01/2014 08:45

Really? I watched it last night & thought he came accross as a sexist bully.

RutaSkadi · 17/01/2014 08:51

Sexist bully here too, winding people up then telling them to calm down when they respond. The level of abuse and name calling shouldn't be considered or justified normal either.
They always have the cheeky chappy older bloke who becomes popular, he's become charmless in there.

FlyAwayToMalibu · 17/01/2014 09:40

Definitely sexist bully

CiderBomb · 17/01/2014 09:46

If he does you can blame Linda Nolan for it. The stupid woman has managed to make even me feel sorry for the old dinosaur.

Lots of kids who won't remember Jim from his 80's and 90's heyday will be watching it and they really won't have a clue about his past. They will no don't see a kindly uncle type figure who's offering words of wisdom and advice to the younger housemates, completely oblivious to his wife beating past.

I don't think he's being himself at all, he's desperate to get back on television and is prepared to mute his personality to do so. He's playing a blinder I must say.

Still don't like him though.

17leftfeet · 17/01/2014 09:53

I don't get his relationship with Lionel.

Lionel keeps alluding to the fact he can't stand him and they have a past, but then they sit having cosy chats?

I can't stand the man, I think he's a nasty manipulative bully anyone would think he's a wife beater

CiderBomb · 17/01/2014 09:58

Lionel is a bit of a tosser as well. He used to give me the creeps when I was little. Remember him on Give us a Clue? "And on my team today I have...." As he stared intently into the camera.

shudders

mrsjay · 17/01/2014 09:58

the other day i thought good god JIm davidson is coming across alright but no he won't win, remember he was a gameshow host too his 1970s comedy was over before he started doing that so he was a family favourite but he is just a nasty man who seems to hate women or seems to think all women need a man

mrsjay · 17/01/2014 10:00

I don't get his relationship with Lionel.

TBH i think it is just survival and tey are just chatting these old showbiz types are pros aren't they they have so many faces going on, the younger people are black and white no grey areas they either like a person or not

Thants · 17/01/2014 10:02

Oh god I don't watch this drivel but it is fucking awful if this disgusting, racist, wife beater is being given a second chance. Shame on channel 5. People like him should have no platform.

RutaSkadi · 17/01/2014 10:03

The pair of them are awful, Lionel's outrage to Luisa about the chocolates when he encouraged it.

I really like Luisa, she may be irritating but she's honest and stands up for herself. I think she go next time though.

CiderBomb · 17/01/2014 10:05

See I think Luisa is horribly irritating, whingey and spoiled.

mrsjay · 17/01/2014 10:07

I think the same as cider about luisa she got caught she hates getting caught and was raging at being told off that is why she went for lionel she is a spoilt madam

theeternalstudent · 17/01/2014 10:09

No I don't think Jim Davidson will win Big Brother. I don't think either him or Linda Nolan are coming across very well.

For me, so far, the only ones with a bit of integrity are Ollie and Sam. I like Casey too but I'm not quite so sure that she is all that innocent with the Lee/Jasmine love triangle.

I really watch too much of this stuff

WTFlike · 17/01/2014 10:13

Besides Ollie, all the men are vile.

We must bear in mind that we KNOW what Liz Jones is like but she's coming across as a shy, pleasant, harmless woman!

Jim, Dappy and Lee are coming across as utter wankers, so maybe they're lovely in real life?! [JOKING]

CiderBomb · 17/01/2014 10:14

Ollie and Sam are interesting in that they don't appear to do very much without someone directing them.

Just shows how manipulated those scripted reality shows are. I remember the girl from Geordie Shore who won the last series as good as admitting that her pisshead persona from the show was as good as put on for the camera. She did try to keep up the act in the house, but it started to slip eventually.

mrsjay · 17/01/2014 10:18

when we see ollie talk he is hilarious but well i think we have heard him twice, Sam is lovely and she seems to be friends with a few of them but she isnt saying anything, but tbh it has been a busy bb this year Grin

RutaSkadi · 17/01/2014 10:20

Dappy's not been featured much lately, many of them are ignored.

I know it's partly down to how interesting they are being, but also that it's heavily edited, there's always a story to each episode. It's interesting which characters are left alone to fly under the radar and which are put up for judgement.

CiderBomb · 17/01/2014 10:38

When they had the 24 hour live feed you'd get to see what was really going on, and often housemates were totally different to how they were edited to appear on the main show.

Josie Gibson is a very good example, when you saw her on the main show she was presented as a down to earth, country bumpkin type who was everyone's friend and would do anything for anyone. But on live feed she was rough as arseholes, bone idle and was the biggest shit stirrer going, she was responsible for a lot of the bad feeling that went on.

I wish we still had it as I'm sure there is so much we are not seeing.

Mumof3xx · 17/01/2014 10:42

I hope he doesn't win he does not seem a nice man

Would be disappointed if Sam or Ollie won as they have hardly been shown and don't appear to have done a great deal

I do like Casey, although think she was a bit stupid over the whole lee thing

Dappy makes me cringe

peppinagiro · 17/01/2014 10:44

Cider I was terrified of Lionel Blair when I was little too! Proper had to hide behind something scared. It also carried over by extension to being terrified of anyone called Lionel. Basically that included Lionel Ritchie and some cartoon lion.

i saw CBB the other day and can confirm he still makes me feel a bit sick.

nvrgooglenkdShiaLaBoeuffTigga · 17/01/2014 10:44

knowing a sister of an ex of his, I bloody hope not. IMNSHO there is little difference between his old on screen persona and how he really is.

IFuckingHateTheTwuntTiggaxx

CiderBomb · 17/01/2014 11:19

Glad it wasn't just me Pepp. He used to do Name that Tune as well, what a load of bollocks that was.

mrsjay · 17/01/2014 11:20

I thought Des O Conner did name that tune was it lionel blair Confused

CiderBomb · 17/01/2014 11:28

Yes, Des might have done it but I only remember Lionel hosting it and my god he was bloody creepy.
