DD's little friend often comes to ours...her Mum works and can't always get childcare...she's single and cash strapped so I have offered to have her every week....it's no bother as DD and she are both good girls and both are quiet....anyway...I usually do something like roast chicken and veg, stir fry, sausages and mash...but today I've been too busy so it's re-heated pasty, salad and crisps Blush Would you be Hmm at this?

It's not a Greggs pasty at least.

It wouldn't bother me.

AgaPanthers · 16/01/2014 15:50

Baked beans might be better than the crisps?

schokolade · 16/01/2014 15:50

Sounds fine to me. Seeing as you're doing a big favour, the other mum probably doesn't mind what her DD gets fed. And it's an ok dinner anyway!

BettySwollocksandaCrustyRack · 16/01/2014 15:50

Well you are doing the mum a favour so if she doesn't like it she can have tea when she gets home.

My DS is ultra fussy so out of that lot would only eat the crisps but I always tell people not to worry too much about feeding him.

SPsMrLoverManSHABBA · 16/01/2014 15:50

Wouldn't bother me either. He's fed so I'd be happy

CaptainSweatPants · 16/01/2014 15:52

Have you got jacket potatoes cheese & beans
?
But if not it's fine
Cheese on toast would be fine if you were feeding my child Grin

DXBMermaid · 16/01/2014 15:52

Gosh no, I think you are lovely for helping out. The occasional 'unhealthy' meal isn't going to do much harm and there is salad too! Now if it was beans, chicken nuggets and smiley faces each time I'd be concerned.

ShatnersBassoon · 16/01/2014 15:52

Sounds fine. You can't have baked beans with salad, the meal sounds fine.

BettySwollocksandaCrustyRack · 16/01/2014 15:54

I love baked beans and salad....it's yummy :)

livelablove · 16/01/2014 15:56

As long as the little girl likes pasty it sounds fine. They could have some fruit for after to increase healthiness if you want.

pigletmania · 16/01/2014 15:58

Ooh baked beans with salad yummy. Yes beans in toast, or jacket potatoe, beans and cheese, or other bean variations. Yes all would b great with me, jst grateful someone can look after dd.

TheListingAttic · 16/01/2014 16:03

Bloody hell, got a beans-on-toast craving now!

FreeAtLastAtLongLast · 16/01/2014 16:04

Having been in your friends position, I can honestly say that you sound wonderful Thanks

Her DC will be fed and happy Smile

AwfulMaureen · 16/01/2014 16:06

Shatners I agree and somehow beans and pasty seems more unhealthy! I know it's not...I have no potatoes in and no cheese and probably no beans!

I need to go shopping but have been too busy. I just nipped to the bakery down the road earlier.

Anyway...pasty, salad and crisps is the way you'd get it if you ordered a pasty to eat in a cafe isn't it? They don't have fruit for pudding....they have an iced cake with jelly tots on Grin I'm not pretending to be something I'm not!

Damn you with your tasty tea talk OP. I think you are being very cruel to me because I'm on a diet and would kill for a pasty now

pregnantpause · 16/01/2014 16:09

My DDS get fed absolute crap the two days I work- frozen chips, nuggets, fish fingers, frozen pizza, not a veg in sight. And cake for dessert. But mil looks after them for me , with no charge, so I love with it, say nothing and give them 8 a day on my days. I would of be thrilled if they were presented with your mealGrin

Redcliff · 16/01/2014 18:05

Your lovely and food sounds great - i am also now craving a pasty!

ApprenticeViper · 16/01/2014 18:09

Sounds absolutely fine to me Smile

It's one day - not going to do either child any lasting damage.

I am now craving an iced cake with jelly tots. Thanks OP Grin

BohemianGirl · 16/01/2014 18:13

Free childcare getting me out a spot? You could feed my child fruit shoots and Haribo and I'd love you lots.

Supercosy · 16/01/2014 18:19

It sounds very tasty and you sound really kind and lovely.

UncleT · 16/01/2014 18:24

YANBU. Cordon bleu it isn't, but it's acceptable as an occasional left overs / no time meal. Plus, there's the issue of the very obviously generous help you're giving - basically it's all rather more than reasonable, it's lovely, friendly, supporting behaviour. Don't be so hard on yourself! The fact you're even asking tells everything it needs to about everything being totally fine.

CoolaSchmoola · 16/01/2014 18:24

Wish I was having that!

(Having dinner after slimming world weigh in and it will involve salad but no pastry products... I love pastry!! Hence why I need slimming world lol!)

If you gave this to DD I wouldn't bat an eyelid, you said yourself its not a regular thing, the odd pasty won't hurt.

I wouldn't complain if that was my child you were feeding! I love a pasty myself :)
