To think that this is utterly bizarre and unfair?

I was looking up prices of a local adventure park place (the kind that has lots of land, farmyard animals, rides etc) and this was in with the entrance fee info:

'We are sorry but we are unable to let single MEN OR WOMEN without children into the park. If you are here to meet someone let one of our reception staff know and they will happily do a tannoy asking them to come and meet you'

AIBU to find this utterly odd and unfair? Perhaps they've had a problem with predatory paedophiles in the past?

Imagine if, as an individual you went there for a wander/look at the animals/coffee and they wouldn't let you in.

That's odd. I googled and found the place. Are single people allowed in the shop? I wonder if this is allowed.

Maybe they've had an issue with someone coming to their farm on a regular basis for no obvious reason and it's just easier to put a blanket rule.

I find that annoying. It reminds me of the time most of our local links was cordoned off for a Parents and Children's Day - you couldn't go in if you didn't have a kid. Had to walk the dog elsewhere.

I think that is really wrong and discriminatory. And utterly pointless, of course (from the view of child protection~).

When I worked in a similar establishment, one of our most frequent visitors was a lovely man who had some form of learning disability. He used to come in regularly, help groom the goats, pet the rabbits etc. The thought that someone like him would be banned makes me very cross.

I have just newly become single, and have grown up children- is this what the future holds for me, people looking at me as if I am constantly up to no good if I go anywhere near children?

I would put my bets in it being to keep a specific person out and though this may be an odd way to do it, it might be the most diplomatic way they could find to do it.

Yanbu. Utterly ridiculous. What if you brought your cbt certificate with you? Would you be allowed in having proved that you are legally allowed to be alone with children?

It would be better if they had the sane tile as the Diana Memorial playground which is no unaccompanied adults allowed in (ie you have to be with a child)

That's very odd. I can see that it is a kids/family fun park more than a zoo, and I suppose in that light it's similar to a soft play centre - I reckon most soft plays would be confused or wary if a single adult wanted to go in.

But there are still animals there...?

How about putting into place a rule that all children have to be supervised by a parent/adult?
No need to worry about a paedophile getting their mitts on your kid if you're watching them

I'm sure other countries are not as ridiculously hysterical about the (very very slight) risk of stranger danger.

My DD has a single uncle (my DB) but if he wanted to meet us there our name would need to be bellowed over a tannoy first, as though he was being let into MI5.

Very unfair! Can I also nominate "couples only" campsites? There's a lovely one in Wales i want to camp at but I will have to ask special permisson as a Single Person.

It certainly isn't safe to assume that all men with children are fine. So this rule isn't protecting anyone.

I don't know. To see the little goats and pigs? To have a go on rides? I like rides and farm animals.

Sometimes when you're single it's nice to go to places where lots of people are out having fun! Lonely walks in the woods can lose their appeal.

It is disgraceful.
