I bought something from EBay and it arrived in shocking condition.

Raised a case as not as described and got masses of rude emails via EBay during the case. Escalated for EBay to decide and they decided very easily with a lot of apology about the rudeness (no idea why, not their fault) in the case resolution in my favour.

The nasty, rude, exceptionally aggressive seller stupidly left her photograph in the pocket of the shoddy goods.

Shall I return it with a giant knob drawn on the photo ? Grin

Years ago blockbusters threatened dp with bailifs over an unpaid fine of £1.53 that they'd never told him about or mentioned in several subsequent visits.

He sent them a cheque to cover the fine and cut his membership card into the shape of a cock and balls and put it in the envelope. Made him feel much better.

It would probably be classed as malicious communication which is illegal. I read about someone who got charged with that for drawing rude things/swear words on a cheque to pay for a parking fine

What if it is a photo of a relative?

Perhaps someone who passed away?

That's the only kind of photo I'd carry around.

So I wouldn't as it would be just horrible if I received it back looking like that if say it was a photo of my dead mum/sister etc.

It's most likely a pic of her given it's a passport photo

There's no way it's illegal, they'd have to prove id drawn the cock on it given that it would just be back in the pocket with the other items that are from 2010 (so anyone at any point in last 3 years could have drawn a cock on an old photo)
