What are yours?

Mine are to drink more water, get off my backside more often, lose weight and put in more effort into everything I do less procrastination

I am aiming too high?

YANBU.

FortyDoorsToNowhere · 25/12/2013 17:00

Mine is to look for a new job, I love mine but I am 28 and the thought of doing the job I do for another 40 years is depressing. I'm a hospital cleaner.

I want to work as a NA before I go to UNI to become a nurse.

ZingChoirsOfAngels · 25/12/2013 17:01

you beat me there, but YANBU!Grin

when morning sickness is properly over I'm planning to drink a reasonable amount of water daily.
I can't right now and I really miss it.

the problem with new year's resolutions that all plans fall apart because life interferes.

I want to go to bed early - fat chance with so much to do!
I want to get up earlier - fat chance when kids are up in the night ill and I need MrZing to drag me out of bed at the latest possible time.
I want to get organised but I can't beat the mess-making brigade.

so IABU for thinking yes, I want to - but how can I?

but the water thing is only depending on me. so count me in for that one - hopefully from around the 6th Jan. Wink

and Merry Christmas!

sparklyma · 25/12/2013 17:02

Thank-you, really bricking it.

Sirzy · 25/12/2013 17:07

Mine is to carry get fitter. I don't have much choice I have signed up for a 10k in may and a half marathon in Septmember!

sparklyma · 25/12/2013 17:08

Wow sirzy that's amazing. Best of luck.

Itwasntmeanttobelikethis · 25/12/2013 17:12

Yanbu at all. Already thinking of mine- to eat less and do more, be more conscientious with housework, shout less and study hard (not necessarily in that order

RedLondonBus · 25/12/2013 17:23

Sirzy, they are also 2 of my aims for next year

This year I ran 2 5k races and trained for a half marathon with running club. I didn't run it tho.

Last years NYR was to lose weight/get fit...... And I did it. Lost 5 stone and took up running and did 3 peaks challenge

Sirzy · 25/12/2013 17:29

Thanks Sparkly.

Red - I made the same NYR last year but it took me til may to start and lost 3.5 stone so far. Would love to have lost another 2-3 by this time next year but now the fitness is the important bit. This time last year I could hardly walk to the end of the road, now I can run 5k so I am much better than I was!

RobotLover68 · 25/12/2013 17:36

2014 will be the year of saying "no" for me

trashcanjunkie · 25/12/2013 17:46

mine is to give up sugar!! I really am determined, starting on the 3rd of January eeeeeeek.

lollerskates · 25/12/2013 18:45

Giving up sugar is a really good one. I might aim for that now that I know someone else is doing it. My main one is to figure out what to do with my life.

trashcanjunkie · 25/12/2013 18:52

lollerskates watch Tim Minchin's speech when he gets an honorary doctorate from his old uni.

'Have a series of short term goals' is just one of the gems Xmas Smile

RedLondonBus · 25/12/2013 19:11

I like giving up sugar too

But it's everywhere...

Aldwick · 25/12/2013 19:13

To lose weight, get fit and play with my children more. Part of that is to put my phone in another room when I'm with them so that I don't jump to check it when it beeps or be sneakily reading mn when I'm meant to be building a lego castle. Good Luck to us all.

Earlspearl · 25/12/2013 19:16

Give up sugar and gluten as I have thrush (nice!), eat too much wheat and need to lose a couple of pounds. Step up the exercise a little more and drink more water. Read more to the boys and sit down in the evenings. Xmas has taken over at the mo and I'm looking forward to implementing things

WoodBurnerBabe · 25/12/2013 19:22

aldwick those are almost exactly my goals! Add shout less, and finally decide if I want to keep my career going or stay at home with the kids for a while. It's such a hard decision, I'm lucky to be able to choose and DH fully supports whatever I do. I'm not happy right now, I'm not giving 100% to anything so something will have to change. I think 2014 is going to be an interesting year!

TidyDancer · 25/12/2013 19:28

Mine is to stop eating crisps and have a more nutritious breakfast. At the moment I eat crisps daily and grab whatever I find in the kitchen for breakfast, which is often not healthy.

In terms of non eating related resolutions, I am aiming to marry DP this year. He does know, don't worry! Xmas Grin

And also get to work on conceiving DC3. We were practicing some time ago but stopped due to lots of other things going on (I know, crap excuse!) but we are in a good place to try in 2014.

CheckpointCharlie · 25/12/2013 19:31

Lose weight, finally. Have joined slimming world again and want to lose about three stone before I get too big, can just pass myself off as ok at the mo but it's a fine line!!

ZingChoirsOfAngels · 26/12/2013 09:55

sparklyma

congratulations!

but it's #7 for me actually! Shock Grin

ZingChoirsOfAngels · 26/12/2013 10:04

oops, I think I misunderstood "6th for me too"Grin

I also need to get our house sorted - we need space and order.
that just needs doing, not so much a resolution, but I have to actually do it instead of just thinking about doing it, so being more efficient is what I pledge to achieve.

dementedma · 26/12/2013 10:14

Another one here for fitness and weight loss.
And particularly less alcohol. Its the biggy and will help with the other two enormously.

bigkidsdidit · 26/12/2013 10:21

I want to read the Booker short list.
