do you shower daily? (be honest!)

obviously if you have a very newborn or you're ill then maybe a might miss a day, but generally speaking do you shower (or bath) every day? I do, but sometimes I might shower in the morning one day but then not shower next until the next evening, if I have a gym session or exercise class planned. I do wear deodorant and clean clothes daily but too many showers irritate my skin and are just a faff. grim, or not grim?

YoucancallmeQueenBee......its about midnight to two in the morning. Im very very rural and the reservoir is only three quarters of a mile up mountain from me in North Wales. The water tastes absolutely vile at this time of night/morning, so strong and pungent. Maybe we notice it cause we are so close to it.

MummytoMog · 29/11/2013 21:01

Good lord, I can't remember the last time I bathed the children. Tuesday night? Best call social services quick.

MrsOsbourne · 29/11/2013 21:11

I shower in the morning and bathe at night < so shoot me>

OMG the smell of my DH freshly showered with Molton Brown Black Pepper < weak at the knees>

PeriodFeatures · 29/11/2013 23:09

God, yes tube use. It has been years since I lived in London. That is an exception. Urban grime, yuck. Product me and scrub me down daily!!

ThenSheSaid · 29/11/2013 23:19

I shower every morning, then usually do some sport so shower again.

If I do some physical work or go for a walk or something I may have yet another shower.

I also, sometimes, have to shower after cooking on the BBQ Grin I smell all smoky and meaty if I have been doing the cooking.

My showers are quick.

M0naLisa · 30/11/2013 00:35

No but I have a bath every night.

ShylaMcCall · 30/11/2013 00:51

I bathe or shower every other day or so, but I think it depends how one washes. I use a harsh exfoliating sponge all over, and on the days in between scrape my pits with a razor whether they need it or not.

It's a bit like doing dishes, I think. Rinsing in nice smelly soapy bubbles is all very well but in order to get properly clean, one has to scrub.

The ancient Greeks had it right I think, with their oil and scrapers Grin

MinesaBottle · 30/11/2013 01:09

I hardly ever shower, only after long flights really. I'm one of those indolent, decadent horrors who prefers a bath Grin - which I do have most days. I don't have an active job so I don't need to shower every day. It's not necessarily good for your skin either. I do make sure I'm clean though with the good old pits n' bits wash every morning.

MadAsFish · 30/11/2013 01:53

Every second, and sometimes third day. I have paper-dry skin too, so it's a bit of a process, all the moisturising.
And no, I don't think I smell. Anyone getting that close to me deserves what they get, the weirdoes.

DoesZingBumpLookBigInThis · 30/11/2013 07:16

Shyla

as you are my nemesis I'm obliged to point out it was the ancient Romans who did that.
well, according to Horrible Histories, that is.

(in other words you suck!
advantage Zing!)

I shower in the mornings and have a big bubble bath every night. I can't go to bed unless I am 100% clean.

ThanSheSaid · 30/11/2013 09:15

I can go from bed to showered and dressed in 5 - 10 minutes. I have shortish hair and I don't wear make-up.

Ememem84 · 30/11/2013 09:36

I tend to Shower every morning. Either at home or the gym or at work. Depending on if I'm gyming or running to work. Or being lazy. Wash hair every 3 days. Even when I'm sick. I find a shower helps

Just booked our next trip to nz. We'll be flying via Singapore with a 3 hour lay over. Have booked a shower at Singapore airport. To freshen up before next 13 hour flight.

cjbk1 · 30/11/2013 09:41

well I didn't last night after all my daily rantings at dh to "please shower before you get into bed with me" Blush
I was 'too tired' but the baby woke up anyway so the time I spent settling her I could have showered

cjbk1 · 30/11/2013 09:55

oh and by the way I'm mixed race
see photos and my skin is terribly dry and my dad for example who is Afro-caribean also had dry skin and moisturises for comfort I thought dark skin aged slower because of melanin please don't flame

PublicEnemyNumeroUno · 30/11/2013 10:59

No because my hair is wait length and takes me a good 30 mins to dry with a hairdryer

However ive just bought myself a shower cap, so i dont have to wash my hair every time now.

I prefer a nice, hot bubble bath though

LambinsideaDuckinsideaTrout · 30/11/2013 11:52

Twice a day here. Morning bath. Then bath every evening after tea. Cooking makes me feel greasy!

Elizabeththefirst · 30/11/2013 11:55

Yes, but I live in London where I seem to get much dirtier than when I was in the burbs.

Alisvolatpropiis · 30/11/2013 12:57

Every other day I shower. Strip wash on the non shower day. Can't wash my hair every day because of a scalp condition so strip wash ensures I don't absently mindedly wash my hair which is easy to do when half asleep.

I don't smell, I barely sweat even in the heat but I am washing everyday so

principalitygirl · 30/11/2013 13:34

Did a little experiment today... timed myself and a shower with washing all over, a hairwash (2 in 1 shampoo and conditioner) and a pits and lower leg shave followed by full body application of lighter , non-prescription moisturiser after drying then dressing took 17 mins. Another 3 or 4 minutes to dry my collar length, layered hair. So that's 20 minutes give or take. It'd be at least 25 if I needed to use the thicker moisturiser if skin was bad. Twice a day I'd be spending the best part of an hour just washing and drying - a luxury I don't have. I don't feel I hang around but I remain in confused awe of those who claim to be done in 5 mins or less.

Iwaswatchingthat · 30/11/2013 13:39

I shower every morning and also have a bath/shower and wash my hair very night. I would not feel awake on a morning without my shower and I like to feel fresh before bed. I find it relaxing.

oldgrandmama · 30/11/2013 13:48

No, I don't shower daily ... but I have a lovely, deep bath daily! I know, not good for the environment etc. etc. ... all that water. BUT, I am arthritic and the heat soothes the pain. Plus, reading in the bath is wonderful (though not my Kindle, until they make a waterproof one).
