To think that serving food with a "froth" sauce...

Just makes it look like someone has gobbed on your dinner! I'm watching Masterchef The Professionals and someone has done this. It looks FOUL!

I'm with you on this - it's vile. Almost comparable to when I was served a tangerine chocolate tart as dessert and the chocolate sauce had been smeared across the white porcelain with a brush. It looked just like something the DCs would leave in the toilet as evidence of their passing so to speak. I lost my appetite.

TooTabooToBOOOOO · 27/11/2013 21:04

YANBU

Vile

tinmug · 27/11/2013 21:11

To me it looks like one of those tropical frogs has laid its eggs on the plate.

Holdthepage · 27/11/2013 21:16

YANBU, froth or foam just yuk.

Binkyridesagain · 27/11/2013 21:20

Is the foam supposed to taste of something?

DH had a lovely black pudding tower recently, it was served with a very tasty sauce, the sauce though looked like a dog with gastro had squatted over the plate then dragged its arse through the mess.

YANBU

I've never been bothered by it, if the food tastes great I'll return for more - a bit of froth is fairly irrelevant.

BoJolly · 27/11/2013 21:26

I thought they'd moved on from froths and were now putting what looks like gravel / dirt on every dish or sails of crispy fish skin.

There also seems to be a fashion for olives in almost everything - including dessert. Yuk.

letsgotothebeach · 27/11/2013 21:32

YANBU. Always reminds me of spit! Think its about time this fad in food preparation went for good. It never tastes of what its supposed to anyway.

Fakebook · 27/11/2013 21:36

Yanbu. It looks sick. As do the smears of chocolate (poo) and smears of pea/spinach purée (snot).

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 27/11/2013 21:38

Grin @ Binky!

Done properly it is amazing.

TheSydenhamSet · 27/11/2013 21:40

Chuckling at fryingnemo

stretch · 27/11/2013 21:41

Haha! Shit smears and fish skin sails make me GrinGrin!

RiffyWammal · 27/11/2013 22:12

I always think it looks like spit too. It looks revolting and the texture can't be nice to eat, surely?

I had a pudding in a restaurant once that had red fruit coulis dripped onto it in spots. DH remarked that it looked like the chef had suffered a nosebleed when plating up!

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 27/11/2013 22:16

I don't care if its done properly or not. It still looks like the chef flobbed on the starter!

Im laughing like a loon here @ gobbed on your dinner :o

I just bought Ds2 a kit that among other things makes "foams". Hes at a very expensive college becoming a chef. He takes it all very seriously :o. I saw said kit and had to get it for his Christmas It does other cool things too like snot pearls to go in your drink

food gob kits

ArtisanLentilWeaver · 27/11/2013 22:21

Crying at 'flobbed'. Grin

Fishandjam · 27/11/2013 22:22

It always reminds me of cuckoo spit.

Or baby posset.

trice · 27/11/2013 22:24

I like my sauce in a little jug please. Not wiped or spat or dripped onto the plate. I also like to eat from a plate; not a roof tile or plank. Also, don't pile my food into little cairns, itlooks silly and just needs knocking over.

I like the thing where you get all the puddings on one plate though. I am greedy.

JuneauWhoIAm · 27/11/2013 22:30

gobby done properly it still looks like phlegm.

Mintyy · 27/11/2013 22:33

Yanbu. Cannot bear the whole idea of froth on a plate. Like it on top of a nice half of Guinness, natch.

workshyfop · 27/11/2013 22:35

YANBU

It really puts me off a place if they serve foam or froth. It looks rank. It doesn't taste good. Prententious wank.

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 27/11/2013 22:38

not a roof tile or plank Absolutely!
AND, stop mixing sweet and savoury up! Bacon flavoured Doughnuts?? Cheese flavoured popcorn????? NO NO NO NO NO!

OP posts:
paulapantsdown · 27/11/2013 22:41

Those smears are known as skid marks in this house. Soooo repulsive looking, especially when there is gob AND skid mark on same place.

paulapantsdown · 27/11/2013 22:44

DH is a roofer, so there are always roof tiles around the place. He's always saying he's going to start dishing up the dinner on them after we watch masterchef.
