Just makes it look like someone has gobbed on your dinner! I'm watching Masterchef The Professionals and someone has done this. It looks FOUL!

Jenga towers of fat chips. If I'm having chips, I want more than six, and I want them hot, not in a tower that means they're stone cold by the time they arrive...

That YouTube was very funny snoozy! Loved the smear of ketchup with the chicken pie.

The critics are very sneery about foams and soils and smears, though (Thursday episode each week, ahem). They eat at all the trendy places and get trend fatigue quickly.
