To think this year's M&S 'festive' advert is utter garbage?

Disclaimer: remember i said festive and not the C-word.

I cringed the whole way through. The only performance from Helena Bonham Carter that I've disliked. Roll on the John Lewis one. Grin

Yep I agree, it's pretty boring. The bit where she is running through the trees looks odd too. Why is it so long? I thought adverts were usually 30 seconds or so?

orangepudding · 05/11/2013 10:18

Dull.

sonlypuppyfat · 05/11/2013 10:21

What a load of shiit. M&S clothes are truely rotten sizes are too bloody small too.

Merrylegs · 05/11/2013 10:30

Arf. The bit where she falls down the manhole makes me think Kenny Everett 'and then all my clothes fell off!' (old).

clarinetV2 · 05/11/2013 10:30

Wow! I think it's fantastic, thanks for the link. I'm not sure about it as a piece of marketing and I've no idea what it's trying to sell - it certainly didn't leave me thinking 'I must go and buy x for myself/for someone else'. But I enjoyed all the references to the children's fantasy genre, especially the Alice ones at the beginning.

LaurieFairyCake · 05/11/2013 10:31

It's fab!!

Showcases hundreds of their products, particularly love the bit in the room on the carpet - you see lots of their nice lights.

Model beautiful, male model very attractive.

And I think Helena Bonham Carter looks great.

kaizen · 05/11/2013 10:36

typical bollocks - why does she have to be on the carpet in her bra and pants???

Clayhead · 05/11/2013 10:36

I like it!

Greydog · 05/11/2013 10:36

I like it!

MissMooMoo · 05/11/2013 10:39

I think it's great!

OneStepCloser · 05/11/2013 10:44

I liked it.

monicalewinski · 05/11/2013 10:48

Undecided! Looking forward to the John Lewis one as well though.

LadyBeagleEyes · 05/11/2013 10:49

Another one that really liked it.

KnockMeDown · 05/11/2013 10:50

I liked it too! Very entertaining!

ShadeofViolet · 05/11/2013 10:52

Do they sell the scarecrow outfit that David Gandy is wearing??

noddyholder · 05/11/2013 10:52

I love it. Saw her interviewed yesterday on a new show and she is lovely very smart and talked beautifully about her mum and how she was raised

galletti · 05/11/2013 10:52

I like it

galletti · 05/11/2013 10:53

Do they sell David Gandy?

WhereIsMyHat · 05/11/2013 10:53

I quite like it too.

Birdsgottafly · 05/11/2013 11:01

"Model beautiful, male model very attractive."

I am wondering why she is the only one in underwear, though?

Unless it's because the director/stylist looked at the Women's clothes and couldn't make one decent outfit out of the lot.

I like the advert, but it isn't Christmassy and makes me feel cold, pity there wasn't any nice coats and hats in it (or the store).

Grennie · 05/11/2013 11:05

Hate how she falls down the manhole and her clothes fall off. And her on the carpet in her bra and pants. It doesn't happen to the male model. He gets to keep his clothes on. Usual sexist crap.

EweHaveGoatToBeKiddin · 05/11/2013 11:05

Yes, i agree, everyone's very beautiful.

But it's just utter nonsense, isn't it? And not in a good way. It's all so cheesy and badly acted. It definitely doesn't warm my cockles like most other festive adverts do.

The dog is very cute.

Vajazzler · 05/11/2013 11:09

If i had her body i'd be walking around in my bra and pants everywhere!

alwaysonmymind · 05/11/2013 11:12

She has designed an underwear range for m&s so she is probably wearing those!
