I had been on the mini pill for 10 days and had started shouting at my poor family, wanting to drive off into no where, feel anxious something bad is going to happen, have insomnia, loss of sex drive..... I stopped taking it 4 days ago amd feel worse! Help!! Anyone else experience this? How long until you felt back to normal??

Took me 2 cycles for things to reset themselves and for me to feel sane

2tiredtoScare · 30/10/2013 16:53

That happened to me on the mini pill and couldn't stick it out to see if thi gs got any better?

Rufus44 · 30/10/2013 16:54

I was on one brand of pill for three months (can't remember which one)

I had to ask the doctor to give me a new brand as my temper was so bad that I was afraid of hurting one of my children

Rufus44 · 30/10/2013 16:54

Should say that I felt better within a few weeks of changing

sassytheFIRST · 30/10/2013 16:57

I managed 7 weeks on the mini pill. Was an evil witch. Back to condoms thereafter.

roofio87 · 30/10/2013 16:57

I was on cerazette for 4 months and cried every single day. swapped to the implant and loved it. these things mess with different people in different ways. hope you find something that works for you!!

graceflorence · 30/10/2013 17:05

Good to know it wears off, I am having massive anxiety that I am going to feel like this forever! It is so scary!! I have no energy to do anything and feel so anxious, and my sex drive only just came back after having a baby and now it's gone again!! How long does it take for sex drive to return?

Oh honey, you poor thing. I've tried everything going bar the coil (NOT coming near me with that thing!) and nothing agrees with me. Am on the depo at the minute and have had migraines for months.

ElleMcFearsome · 30/10/2013 18:25

I couldn't stand it - gave it 2 months and still felt the same. Was either weeping in a corner or raging at people. Family planning said I should give it a few more months. If I did, I'd have been divorced, friendless, familyless... Sad

2tiredtoScare · 30/10/2013 18:26

I'll secondu that Ellie

KatOD · 30/10/2013 18:27

Same as sassy here! Sent me loopy.

PinkParsnips · 30/10/2013 18:28

It's not cerazette is it?

I felt like I was depressed when I took that. It really didn't agree with me at all.

I swapped to Micronor which is still a mini pill and was absolutely fine with that so I think trial and error with different types is the key.

2tiredtoScare · 30/10/2013 18:34

Cerazette was the one that made me a raging weepy mess

summertimeandthelivingiseasy · 30/10/2013 18:56

All the ones I tried gave me instant constipation. Tried cerazette and femulen for 6 weeks each. Since I had a repair op, this is a deal breaker. After a break, I tried another one and gave it up after 8 days.

hippoherostandinghere · 30/10/2013 19:15

I felt like that at the start but I stuck it out and am glad I did. It settled down after a few months and I've been on it about a year now and I really like it.

I take it continously and its a godsend. Other pills in the past have made me so nauseated I was hospitalised with dehydration.

These things normally take a few months to settle down.

mummytowillow · 30/10/2013 19:26

I took it for a week and I was like a mad woman! Angry

bubalou · 30/10/2013 19:38

I hope it gets better for you soon - I had to stop the pill all together in the end. Was on it for 8 years until we tried for a baby and then we obviously had ds. I went back on when he was about 6 months old & it was awful!

I kept crying and feeling upset and then angry! I remember crying hysterically because the Simpsons was on and it was an episode I had already seen! I stopped there and then and haven't gone back on it since. Shock

Mia4 · 30/10/2013 19:44

I had similar with the mini-pill plus constant bleeding, in the end i switched to another. I had the same with a couple of the combined pills too but luckily found a good one-until i had to come off it. It took about a week of two, I took oil of evening primrose which helped.

EauRouge · 30/10/2013 19:48

Cerazette is the devil. I'm so glad DH has had the snip now. I lasted 3 months on Cerazette and each one was worse than the previous one.

EirikurNoromaour · 30/10/2013 19:57

I couldn't bear the mini pill. It really impacted my mental health.

graceflorence · 30/10/2013 20:39

Yes it's Cerazette (a new generic version of it), for everyone who it impacted did you go back to normal when you stopped taking it quite quickly? I'm scared it's turned me like this forever! (probably the anxiety talking there!!)

MamaBear17 · 30/10/2013 21:04

Both mini and regular pills caused me to have horrendous mood swings and to feel like I was losing my mind. The implant has been a godsend though. No affect of my moods at all, and no weight gain either.

kakiqueen · 30/10/2013 22:19

Hello graceflorence. I had the same experience as you whilst taking cerazette and also the mirena coil. Really horrible anxiety and low mood.
Once I'd stopped, it only took a week maximum to feel normal again.
I've since learnt that some women do react very badly to progesterone, which of course is what both cerazette and mirena contain.
You will feel better really soon. Be kind to yourself. Take some long warm baths, exercise and eat well.
Take care!

HandbagCrazy · 30/10/2013 23:31

Just want to add that i tried cerazette too. It was horrendous! I have a tendency to slide into a slight depression anyway so i didnt spot that the pill was causing a lot of the problems until i realised i had cried at some point every day for 3 weeks. I honestly thought i was having some sort of breakdown. Sat down with the gp, he advised coming off it - 10 days later i realised i'd been calm, no tears, for a few days. Give yourself a little more time for it to get out of your system. Hope you feel better soon x

PoppyScarer · 30/10/2013 23:33

YANBU. Cerazette drove me loopy! Went to the GP thinking my depressive moods were due to breastfeeding withdrawal but no, she took me straight off Cerazette and I was back to my old self almost straight away, within a week or so.
