I had been on the mini pill for 10 days and had started shouting at my poor family, wanting to drive off into no where, feel anxious something bad is going to happen, have insomnia, loss of sex drive..... I stopped taking it 4 days ago amd feel worse! Help!! Anyone else experience this? How long until you felt back to normal??

Thanks for the kind words everyone. It sounds like I should be better in a couple of days then, that's good to hear. X

I had to stop all hormone based contraception because it made me into an over emotional, irrational, bitch. I think some people react strongly to hormones. However, im also convinced that the people who react emotionally to hormone based contraceptives aee those that grt pregnant very easily (said while counting my 5 children)

Excuse typos.

Cerazette made me psycho. I get such painful periods, and had no bleeding at all on Cerazette, which I loved, but stuck with it for about 10 months and it made me so so angry and stabby. I have had depression before but never with such rage. Now switched to Micronor and it's much better for me.

Cerazette sent me bananas. I stuck with it almost to the 'magic' three month mark and then decided enough was enough. Was either shouting or crying for the majority of that time...

I was an evil witch after only 5 days on Cerazette - foul temper, weepy and self-pitying, shovelling carbs down my throat like a woman possessed, faceful of spots... Awful Hmm. Asked friend (who is a GP - not mine) and she suggested I stop taking it, and that it may well not settle down because the symptoms were so bad. Never again for me.

Weird, I've been taking cerazette for years and love it! No periods is a great plus which means no hormonal weeks when I have my period!

Ha! Yes! It was christened the 'minipill of madness' after a particularly spectacular rant about icing on a cake in the café. I had the rage at everything and everbody. Back to normal 3 or 4 days after stopping them. It wasn't cerazette, but can't remember which it was.

mrscumberbatch · 31/10/2013 14:06

I took it when we were on holiday and turned into a madwoman who abandoned her entire family and was ready for jumping in front of a bus.

I am outraged that I wasn't warned that this was a possible side effect. Have never taken any kind of pill since.

LittleMissGerardBOOOOOtler · 31/10/2013 14:12

I was on the evil cerazette for a year, it stopped my periods but it felt like my pmt just built up and built up and because I didn't have my period I never got that release.

I stopped and it didnt take long to feel back to normal, it was the worse pill ever and I would never recommend it.

graceflorence · 01/11/2013 09:26

Just to update after 5 days of stopping I felt a lot better and now after 6 days I feel back to normal, thankfully!! Thanks for your feedback everyone, it helped me to know it was not just me who this happened too! Quite scary that people are prescribed this after having a baby, I wonder how many people have these reactions and think it is post natal depression??
