I'm so angry with dh. Help me think of a suitable punishment.

I'm 10+5 weeks pregnant, shattered and all I want to do is sleep! Dd1 has her 3rd birthday party next week and I have loads to do for it and I ran out of nappies for dd2 (20 months)

I had a hairdresser come round at 11am this morning and a boule service man due between 1 and 5 pm. The girls always nap for a good couple of hours and this is my time to sleep too. Today they went down for a nap at 1pm and I stayed awake waiting or boiler man.

Time ticked on and now I'm struggling to keep my eyes open and no sign of boiler man. I've text dh many times today, both chatty and asking of confirmation re boiler man time. Finally manage to get hold of him just now after ringing him several times since 4pm and he says

'Oh yea, I forgot to tell you. He rang at 9am to say he was sick and re arranged for tomorrow'

Besides the fact I'm no fucking here tomorrow and he knows it, he had many many opportunities to tell me he wasn't fucking coming.

AIBU to be beyond angry with him? Other than ltb (Which is an option with all these gp hormones raging) what's a suitable punishment? Castration?

busylizzie76 · 21/10/2013 18:21

I would be demanding he bring a lovely take away home for dinner to make up for it.

phantomnamechanger · 21/10/2013 18:22

itching powder in his pants, definitely! LOL

CbeebiesIsMyLife · 21/10/2013 18:23

Sounds like you have had a tough day and he's been an insensitive arse. Being pregnant doesn't help as the hormones make everything seem worse. I once thought that perhaps DH wasn't the one for me and would make a terrible father as he boiled mushrooms. A simple mistake you'd think but I was ready to dump him. Yup, I was three months pregnant.

Anyway, he HAS been thoughtless and needs to be extremely apologetic and helpful. I would suggest that the minute he walks in the door (WITH a takeaway) you take yourself of to bed with something yummy and a book/magazine and leave him to deal with kids/dinner/washing up etc.

It's the least he could do really.

pointyfangs · 21/10/2013 18:47

I think boiling mushrooms is at the very least a flogging offence, to be fair.

And OP, your DH definitely owes you a takeaway and an entire evening taking on all child and domestic duties.

CbeebiesIsMyLife · 21/10/2013 20:27

He came home handed me a bottle of sholer and a big tub of Hero's and put the kids to bed. Then he went out and picked up the essentials we needed and has been extremely apologetic. I think I'm just about ready to forgive him! He's also re-arranged the boiler man for Wednesday when he is working from home :)

Oooh, grown-up non-alcoholic fizz for pregnant ladies and chocolates... I think he's redeemed himself. Smile

CrapBag · 21/10/2013 20:33

I would say he has sufficiently redeemed himself from his idiocy now. Grin

ScoutJemAndBoooooooooooo · 21/10/2013 20:34

Nice result. Mature, considered, reflection on both sides and no need to LTB. Result!

pianodoodle · 21/10/2013 20:38

Brilliant!

I think we should turn our attention now to the man who boils mushrooms Confused Grin

pointyfangs · 21/10/2013 20:39

CbeebiesIsMyLife · 21/10/2013 21:00

I know, CBeebies. Mushrooms are for sauteeing and putting in everything curries, casseroles, on pizzas and so on. Or, if you get the really huge ones, they are for filling with lashings of home made garlic butter and grilling until dark and luscious, then eating with wonderful crusty bread and salad.

Fannydabbydozey · 21/10/2013 22:57

I'm so glad to see there will be no cats rations tonight. Phew.

I came home from work at about 9pm to the most hideous smell OUTSIDE in the street. It was from my home where my then boyfriend had been boiling mushrooms to serve with a pasta salad and cold ham. REALLY?

He's not any better at cooking now. And he's absolutely SHITE at birthdays. I was going to get him a kindle but on my birthday I got... Bugger all. He'd ordered flowers which actually arrived dead four days later. Nothing from the kids. Or the dog. At 4pm he went out and got a cake at Asda. I bought my own champagne.

On HIS birthday, two weeks later, he got two homemade cards from the kids, a reduced box of chocolates from thorntons and a steely gaze from me. Fuck the kindle, I thought. And fuck the fucking. No birthday specials for him.

He's a nice guy honest, just lives on planet fucking cricket. I swear I have no idea what goes on in his head. He comes from a totally dysfunctional family so there is some excuse. But really, he's a grown man holding down a decent job. He should know better.

Fannydabbydozey · 21/10/2013 22:59

timetosmile · 21/10/2013 23:15

Glad it was a good outcome OP
This thread has the highest density of quality typos I have seen for a long time Grin

MrsPennyapple · 21/10/2013 23:19

Absolutely love the idea of cats rations as punishment Grin

I detest mushrooms at the best of times, but the thought of boiling them is actually making me queasy.

FortyDoorsToNowhere · 21/10/2013 23:20

Boiled mushrooms are lovely 1/4 cup of water salt, pepper for 6-8 minutes then once drained a bit of butter.

BadgersNadgers · 21/10/2013 23:21

Would you, could you with a fox?
