To just go ahead and get another cat anyway?

I am soooo broody and I need a fluffy little kitten to love until another baby comes along!
We already have 2 cats so I don't think having another will make much difference, will it? DP doesn't want another one but tbh he doesn't have much to do with our cats anyway so it's no extra work for him. I'd get a rescue one as well.
I just need the MN approval now. Please, please please can I get another cat?!

Yes! Get one. You have my total permission. Cats are the best. You definitely need more than just two.

GhastlyMoiraKroesig · 12/10/2013 16:31

Get two!

I did. I now have four.

Which is a shame because 4 is a relatively normal amount of cats but 5 is mad cat woman.

No shehasnt

Sorry that was DP being a tool. He's not happy that I've got permission!

Oh dear.

RandomMess · 12/10/2013 16:32

They are still a cost, can you afford the vet bills for another cat?

ARoundSoundLikeGround · 12/10/2013 16:32

(more than two = mad cat lady)

Cataline · 12/10/2013 16:32

Yes. I did this last summer. DH hates cats but he was playing a little too much golf at the time...... Grin
Took him nearly two days to realise I'd sneaked a new kitty in!

HereComesHoneyBooBooDragon · 12/10/2013 16:33

I'll be the voice of doom and gloom. It's not fair on the kitten if one if you doesn't want it. They are a pita, it will affect him and you wouldn't like it if the tables were turned.

You are so lucky to have to cats already.

GhastlyMoiraKroesig · 12/10/2013 16:34

Haha at the husband typing over his wife's shoulder 'noshehasnt'

Kittens are pains in the arse for 6 months but when they are cats they are WONDERFUL.

WalkingDeadFan · 12/10/2013 16:35

I had 2 cats, then went and got a third from a rescue just a few weeks before I realised I was pregnant. I got a cat though, not a kitten. She was five years old and slotted in beautifully. Go for it!

SnookyPooky · 12/10/2013 16:38

We have 12 cats (yes 12), always room for another.

IfYouLoveSomebodyLetThemSleep · 12/10/2013 16:44

Are you kidding HoneyBooBoo? I'd be thrilled if he brought home any animal, I'm a total sucker for them!
I am definitely going to get one. I think she will have to be a girl to fit in with our 2 boys and quite young to get used to the toddler. I think he would love it once it came along, he loved our last cat when he was a kitten and still has a soft spot for him.

Thanks for the permission Grin

Pets, like children, should be a joint decision. If one person is against it then it doesn't happen.

IfYouLoveSomebodyLetThemSleep · 12/10/2013 16:45

Shock 12 cats! Where do you fit them all in?!

OP posts:
Namechangingnorma · 12/10/2013 16:45

yes yes yes, do it. I got a little rescue boy kitten a couple of months ago post miscarriage to stave off broodiness, it totally worked. Not been fun integrating with my girl cat but not too bad now, aside from the daily hissing. Rescues are overflwing and can barely cope, anyone who can offer a home should, its your social duty Smile

Mojavewonderer · 12/10/2013 16:45

Yes definitely! I now have 6 cats ;)

Mojavewonderer · 12/10/2013 16:46

And all of mine are rescue kitties :)

PumpkinGuts · 12/10/2013 16:49

Yabu, Dh is banned from any more.

IvanaCake · 12/10/2013 16:54

Get one the same colour as one you already have and hope they don't frequent the same room at the same time too often. Should a double sighting occur you can suggest in a very concerned tone that dh get his eyes tested.

Mollywashup · 12/10/2013 18:23

My friend has eleven cats and three dogs and a couple of snakes

Lj8893 · 12/10/2013 18:27

Do it. He will love it I'm sure!

When me and my dp got together he always stated how much he hates cats! Now we are about to have our first child he's decided that when she's abit older we will have to get a cat.

And he goes all gooey over cute kittens, I have no idea what changed him!

jollydiane · 12/10/2013 18:28

Buy a fluffy teddy bear instead?

SplitHeadGirl · 12/10/2013 18:32

Nooooo...no more cats!!! Get a Springer Spaniel instead...take her/him on walks with you and baby. The love they give you, and gentleness, wipes the floor with cats!!

SplitHeadGirl · 12/10/2013 18:33

And I say that as a cat lover, too!!!
