soooo, my ds, 4, showed me the colouring in he did today at school. He then asked if Spider Woman was naked, and wasn't that a bit silly.

I was really quite shocked. This is the image.

What's the MN consensus? Is that just the deal with superheros (women, but also men) that they have exaggerated bodies? Or is it totally outrageous that my son spent the afternoon colouring in the giant bazongas of what he thought was a naked woman.

Yabu. Did he draw nipples?

ILoveAFullFridge · 08/10/2013 21:50

Sure superheroes have exaggerated bodies, but that doesn't mean its acceptable and it certainly doesn't mean I want my child 'studying them' at school.

Very Hmm

I would be telling the school tomorrow that the pictures were inappropriate.

catgirl1976 · 08/10/2013 21:50

Did he stay within the lines?

YANBU though

fairy1303 · 08/10/2013 22:14

Didn't realise Superwoman was a page 3 model.

JamieandtheMagicTorch · 08/10/2013 22:19

Somebody printed out the first Google Image they found ....

Awful.

quoteunquote · 08/10/2013 22:23

That is funny, well good for him, did he add clothes or pubic hair?

lovelilies · 08/10/2013 22:48

I'd complain... totally inappropriateAngry

BadgersNadgers · 08/10/2013 22:54

Did he get a picture of Spider-Man with a big spunking willy?

drawsofdrawers · 08/10/2013 22:54

This is a joke, right.?...

You think women's bodies - not even naked by the looks of this - are inappropriate?

Mogz · 08/10/2013 23:28

It's a bit off for a little kid to be shown these in an educational setting, but maybe they just didn't think twice because its cartoony Hmm perhaps an word in their ear to say you'd rather your child was presented with realistic people to colour, or at least not people in skin tight Lycra!

I'd also be bringing up with them that they can't just take someone else art even if they found it on the web, it is still beholden to copyright laws. But then I get huffy about that after having my own stuff stolen and used by a t-shirt manufacturer.

PeppiNephrine · 08/10/2013 23:34

Womens bodies aren't inappropriate. Unrealistic oversexualised depictions of women are inappropriate. For anyone.
Comics are horribly sexist and misrepresentational.

WorraLiberty · 08/10/2013 23:34

Surely she's wearing a tight lycra suit?

Either way, I can't see how or why you're 'shocked'?

minihahawithafringe · 08/10/2013 23:42

My dd did superheroes as a topic in yr4 very well handled.

Maybe yours was a surplus one and next week he'll be colouring in togas

Lweji · 08/10/2013 23:48

And they are all wearing the wrong bras (not to mention bikini tops). Maybe they have super power boobs too. Grin

TigOldBitties · 08/10/2013 23:48

She's wearing a leotard type thing and what you can see the shape of her boobs?

What does he think are the great mounds on womens chests or is this the first time he's been exposed to such horrors.

Theres nothing inappropriate about the picture.

PeppiNephrine · 08/10/2013 23:51

The shape of her entirely fake, not even in the right place boobs. You don't really get it, do you?

drawsofdrawers · 08/10/2013 23:53

I've got a couple of friends with figures like that. Pneumatic boobs. Where is the 'right' place for boobs please?

oscar126 · 08/10/2013 23:53

That's terrible!

YANBU

WorraLiberty · 08/10/2013 23:53

I'm really laughing out loud here (DH thinks I've gone mad!)

'Entirely fake' boobs?

On a drawing? Grin

Who'da thunk it?

kali110 · 08/10/2013 23:55

Gods sake its a bloody cartoon woman! Amazingly i think kids may have seen a womans body before its not inappropriate. They were colouring in not labelling body parts.agree with other posters you're all being precious.
