DH is watching Iron Man.
I just looked up and they are at some ball. I just decided that tuxedos, bow ties and wing collar shirts are bloody ridiculous.

A sharp suit, crisp tie and nicely pressed shirt are much more smart.

My old, bog standard, comp. has just changed the school uniform to grey blazers and yellow bow ties! I wish them good luck with that!

A well tailored tux looks very nice, it's a shame that most are not well tailored.

Dh looks sexier in his dinner suit and bow tie than any other outfit he owns, although he doesn't have winged collar on his dress shirt. I agree those are daft.

I hate the word 'tuxedo'. I hate that the American term is so common. As some other posters have noted, it is a dinner suit (or dinner jacket, depending). Therefore, YABU.

Dh's DF was older when he was born, than my Ddad was when we got married, he never had any choice, but to get infected with old fashioned class.

I went to an evening do, in fact a fashion show I helped organise. The men dressed in bow ties and all looked dashing.
