To wear this coat at 29

I had a moment of madness and bought a pauls boutique coat, similar to this one:
www.handbagfairy.co.uk/blog/fashion/bank-fashion/attachment/pauls-boutique-quilted-biker-jacket-75/

I am now thinking that I am too old to be wearing this and might come across as mutton dressed as lamb/ chavvy, but at the same time I think I should stuff what other people think and just wear it. Can somebody of 29 get away with wearing a pauls boutique jacket?
Would I be ridiculous to wear it?
should I just stick it on ebay?
I can't return it and get a refund as it was in the sale and they said refunds will only be allowed on faulty goods.

Mutton dressed as lamb is me, at 67, wearing a mini skirt Grin

You'll be fine, you spring chicken, you !

Mumsyblouse · 18/09/2013 11:12

I don't get the question- 29 is so young that pretty much anything you wear is just fine. Did you see the programme about 80 year olds on Channel 4 last night, those ladies were wearing what they fancied into their 80's and 90's. So, any type of coat at 29 is ok.

HandMini · 18/09/2013 11:13

I'm afraid I think it's a bit school girl. Ebay it.

DameDeepRedBetty · 18/09/2013 11:13

If you like it you wear it!

I don't like it but I will defend unto the death your right to wear what you want except for sequinned boob tubes on the larger figure and shorts that are so short the person behind you can count every pube

Doubtfuldaphne · 18/09/2013 11:17

I think its practical looking and must be well made (you'd hope) for the price. 29 is not old! You can still wear what you like for a while yet!

Inthedarkaboutfashion · 18/09/2013 11:18

Mumsyblouse- thanks for that. I know that 29 is still young but I suppose its like Handmini says - perhaps soon people might see pauls boutique as a bit school girl.
Stuff it I'm going to wear it - no point waiting until I'm 70 to think about wasting my younger years not wearing what I want because of other people's views.

I'm only a size six and I wouldn't dream of wearing a sequinned boob tube or bum cheek revealing length shorts might have done a decade ago though

I think its fine. I guess if you live near a school where allthe girls wear them then you might feel a biy odd. But can't say I have noticed any round this way. Keep it if you like it.

Only if you unpick the stupid PB rubbish, I don't think my 12&15 yearolds would wear I

Lweji · 18/09/2013 11:52

The coat looks fine, apart from the big PB and the heart PB.

Can you get something nicer put over it?

Inthedarkaboutfashion · 18/09/2013 11:53

Ebay it is then - hope I get back close to what I paid for it.

Yes take off the logos and it will be better.

At 29 though you aren't too old for most stuff though

pinkpjs · 18/09/2013 12:01

If you love it wear it . It looks lovely and cosy . Pb stuff is well made and a fraction of the price of Barbour . ( got a similar Barbour jacket , in fact it looks nearly identical if you make the lining red and take the p & b off , it was £200 Shock

Just wear it with , nice jeans and boots ...don't go ugg . Too many " brands" on show looks cheap ...or cheap trying to look expensive iykwim.

BettySwollocksandaCrustyRack · 18/09/2013 12:01

Agree, 29 is not old and it is a nice coat but..........the logo is awful and Pauls Boutique is worn by school girls trying to look hip and cool.

Sallystyle · 18/09/2013 12:01

I thought PB stuff was for highschool girls. They have nice bags but anything that says I heart PB is a huge no for me.

That said, I am 32 and still like the odd pink sparkly stuff.

mewmeow · 18/09/2013 12:02

Yanbu. Go for it Grin
id wear it if it would suit me.

RobinSparkles · 18/09/2013 12:09

I have just turned 30 and I wouldn't wear it, but only because I used to work in Primary School and all the year 5s and 6s had them.

My friend has a PB handbag and jacket. She's almost 23.

echt · 18/09/2013 12:19

Yikes. But then I'm nearly 60 so what would I know?

I would grit my teeth if my teen DD wore it. Not on the age basis, but the taste basis.

Branleuse · 18/09/2013 12:27

I thought it stood for peanut butter.

SugarHut · 18/09/2013 12:27

A girl that lives near to me has this, she's about 15, I see her walk past on her way to school. IMHO, not good for anyone over 20 really. Totally agree with the poster who said get a very similar one from a more "adult" brand without a big heart on the front. Actually Karen Millen has a great quilted looking one in right now...

www.karenmillen.com/quilted-leather-jacket/jackets/karenmillen/fcp-product/026JR04601

Tad more on the purse strings, but tis luffly :)

FloweryOwl · 18/09/2013 12:33

I'm 23 and I wouldn't wear it. But I don't really like Pauls Boutique stuff anyway. Two of my brothers are in year 9 & 10 and their friends wear stuff like that.

kitsmummy · 18/09/2013 12:34

I think that coat is Vicky Pollard after she's had a bit of a windfall....
