to think that people who moan about facebook

Redpipe · 08/09/2013 08:14

must either have added/accepted friends they don't like or expect their 'friends' to use it in exactly the same way that they do themselves or they don't know how to use the filter system (which is very basic).

In the time it takes to moan complain about facebook they could have changed their settings, so people who use it in a way that is not acceptable to them can be limited in their news feed.

It's not difficult is it?

YANBU!

MadCap · 08/09/2013 08:17

YANBU

Tee2072 · 08/09/2013 08:19

Also, they seem to think life requires Facebook. It doesn't.

Don't like it? Don't use it.

All problems solved.

Redpipe · 08/09/2013 08:23

Tee2072
That is another option obviously but if it's just a few people that anooy them for the way they use it then change the settings. Easy and done in seconds.
But they prefer to moan about it to everyone. Unfortunately you can't filter real life facebook moaners.

Don't even change your settings, just block their feeds. Don't even have to unfriend.

Birdsgottafly · 08/09/2013 08:42

YANBU.

There are some miserable people on MN, though, who seem to take no pleasure in anything, or anyone of their relationships.

There are some responses to threads about, FB, mixing with friends (who you've picked, unlike family), gift buying and life in general, including doing things for their children, that makes me conclude that they are just utterly joyless people who have created little point to their lives.

usuallyright · 08/09/2013 08:46

yanbu and birdsgottafly says exactly what I think.

Pigsmummy · 08/09/2013 08:59

Totally agree, YANBU.

usualsuspect · 08/09/2013 09:03

YANBU.

Redpipe · 08/09/2013 09:47

Facebook moaner "I'm so irritated that my friend updates so often, it's so annoying"

I want to say "So you're on facebook then, (the site about sharing your life with others online) and you're regularly checking it to see the updates then?"

I deleted my account about 6 months ago, it's so less stressful not reading other people's clap tapWink

usualsuspect · 08/09/2013 09:53

Now you just read other people's clap trap on MNGrin

valiumredhead · 08/09/2013 09:56

It's ok, I can cope with thatGrin

MurderOfGoths · 08/09/2013 09:57

YANBU, so damn easy to just leave it if they don't like it.

MrsDoomsPatterson · 08/09/2013 09:58

But you also have to remember that people can use FaceBook in any way they like; Moan, complain, whatever. It's up to them. Not anyone else. They can have friends, people they don't like, anything they want.

acer12 · 08/09/2013 10:01

Ha ha I was going to start a thread like this this morning after reading another but couldn't be arsed!

But I agree !!

WestieMamma · 08/09/2013 10:02

I do agree, although I also have one friend (a real life one) who's driving me nuts on Facebook. I don't live in the UK so use it as means of sharing the minutae of life with my family back home. Since WestieBaby arrived I get moaning phone calls from grandparents if I don't update enough or upload enough pictures.

My friend had a baby around the same time and now hijacks every status update about WestieBaby and makes it about her baby. He was a bit rough after his vaccinations, her baby had a raging fever and was up all night. Got his new carseat today, they got a different one which they felt was better than the one I got. Photo of him posing with his new toy, her baby loves those and has 100 already and has been playing with them for weeks now.

It's so depressing.

valiumredhead · 08/09/2013 10:04

I've downloaded 23 snaps for sharing photos. not used it yet though

ginslinger · 08/09/2013 10:05

I have never read anything about facebook that makes me think I need to sign up for it.

Redpipe · 08/09/2013 10:13

ginslinger because it's only the moaners that go on about it. Grin

westiemama why not change your settings so she doesn't see your updates that way she can't hijack them. Simple.

ginslinger · 08/09/2013 10:15

you may be right there Redpipe

WhispersOfWickedness · 08/09/2013 10:17

I would have to start deleting her comments, Westie, that sounds infuriating!

WestieMamma · 08/09/2013 10:27

westiemama why not change your settings so she doesn't see your updates that way she can't hijack them. Simple.

If you had even half an inkling of my technical prowess you'd never suggest such a thing. Blush

In all seriousness though, it isn't simple for me. I have a cognitive impairment which seriously affects all things technical. I have special software from the hospital to make internet use easier, but I can still only manage it on a very basic level. My occupational therapist set up my FB account and I will ask her to change the settings next time I see her.

Fairylea · 08/09/2013 10:34

Yanbu.

I'm also amazed people continue to add random workmates or even their boss on facebook - too much room for gossip and problems at work. Whenever I've worked somewhere I've only ever added people to my facebook after I've left. My profile is completely private and unsearchable so I just let people think I'm not on it for the duration of a job, I've learnt the hard way it's just not worth it.

I'm also bemused by people who keep random old exes on their facebook. If you wouldn't talk to them in the street why have them on there? I'm pretty ruthless on facebook and block all my exes.

I have the grand total of about 34 friends on my facebook. At one time I had 780. It was like announcing something in a local newspaper. I much prefer it keeping it to a select few. Then I don't have to worry what I say!

I also don't have family on facebook. Too much hassle. But then my family and my dh's family are casseroles. Fuck, that was meant to say arseholes, but autocorrect decided casseroles was a nicer word.

or as you put it birds Joyless fuckers Grin

op YANBU if folk annoy then just hide their feeds, facebook is a funny old place and we are sometimes taken aback at people we know views on things,
