...to tell friend to get lost!!

KaseyM · 05/09/2013 18:31

Ok..I recently posted my holiday pics on Facebook. A friend (who lives far away and I see once or twice a year) texted me full of concern asking me if I was ok and saying she was worried about me....

I asked her why she was worried and she said that judging by my pictures I'd put on weight and needed to go on a diet!!!

I mean I'm not sure what to say to her. I kind of want to laugh cos she is super into her looks and a bit desperate but then I'm thinking that this is really rude of her....or is she just being a good friend?

:-O

BrianTheMole · 05/09/2013 18:33

Its very rude.

Beaverfeaver · 05/09/2013 18:34

That is horrible of your friend and I don't think I would want to have anything to do with them

wheretoyougonow · 05/09/2013 18:34

Have my first ever Biscuit and please feel free to send her one in the post!

Pixieonthemoor · 05/09/2013 18:34

Rude!

Celadorthepinksequineddragon · 05/09/2013 18:36

I think at best it's insensitive, at worst rude and unkind.

If someone is genuinely worried about your health then they should really speak to you face to face, and explain why sensitively and supportively. I would also only expect that from family or very close friends. How did she word her message?

IvanaCake · 05/09/2013 18:37

"Wow! How incredibly rude of you!" Would be my reply.

catinabox · 05/09/2013 18:37

Oh my gosh!! That is SERIOUSLY rude! Have you text back? you need to text back with something really good because that really shouldn't go past without comment!

Perhaps not get lost (yet)....

impatienttobemummy · 05/09/2013 18:40

Omg she couldn't be more fucking rude if she tried. I'd axe her over that! A friend doesn't make comments like that!!

zookeeper · 05/09/2013 18:41

I can only think she wants a fight with you; have you annoyed her in some way?

Hissy · 05/09/2013 18:45

'did you mean to be so fucking rude'

Works every time.

TidyDancer · 05/09/2013 18:47

Fucking hell.

How vicious can people get?!

Yonihadtoask · 05/09/2013 18:47

Cheeky fecker.[schock]

I don't know what I would reply to that one.

Will have a think....

Yonihadtoask · 05/09/2013 18:48

oh Shock

I was so Shock ed that I couldn't spell correctly.

Tweenangst · 05/09/2013 18:48

I would reply that you are concern about her mental health, as only a loon or a twat would send that message.

SmiteYouWithThunderbolts · 05/09/2013 18:50
Shock

How bloody dare she?! Even IF you had put on a worrying amount of weight, there are diplomatic and supportive ways to broach the subject beyond a fucking text message fgs.

stiffstink · 05/09/2013 18:51

Go fuck yourself.

That'd cover it.

Numberlock · 05/09/2013 18:51

So she drip feed the 'I'm worried about you'. The ultimate PA attack n'est-ce pas?

ChasedByBees · 05/09/2013 18:51

Ruuuuddde!

FetchezLaVache · 05/09/2013 18:52

I don't think you can do better than IvanaCake's suggestion. Then bin her.

IDontBowlOnShabbos · 05/09/2013 18:53

Wow what a bitch! I'd reply - Ha ha ha. Fuck off.

worsestershiresauce · 05/09/2013 18:55

Well have you? I'm not jumping on the it's rude to comment on people's weight band wagon without more info. A few pounds - rude, a few stone - concerned.

KaseyM · 05/09/2013 18:56

Ah thanks all... the thing is zookeeper I think she genuinely is expressing concern. She is very obsessed with her looks and the last time I spoke to her on the phone she spent ages banging on about this diet that she was on.....I think in her world it really is the be all and end all to be pretty (which she really is) and she can't conceive of anyone NOT being worried over putting on a few pounds..

Celador - she basically worded it by saying that she'd seen from my FB pics that I'd put on some pounds and then started talking about this diet I should try..

She's always been a bit dodgy about weight. She used to slag off an ex-friend on account of her having a "big J-Lo bum"!! But ironically the reason she was mad at J-Lo-bum-friend was because J-Lo-bum-friend had recently made a snide comment on how my friend (the rude one) had put on weight!! So maybe she is just passing it all forward! Oh dear I do pick 'em!

Worcester - I've put on a bit of weight recently but not loads - definitely not anywhere near a stone - I don't really weigh myself so I don't know - DS says I'm cuddly!! A small size 16.

Celadorthepinksequineddragon · 05/09/2013 19:05

Hmm, in view of that i'd steer clear - I probably wouldn't even bother to reply!

Spend time with genuine people that make you happy Smile.
