To spend this much on a pair of boots?!?

Pros

They are beautiful
Hardy
Waterproof
Sturdy
Beautiful
Are £50 off from last year.

Cons? They are still £125

I don't normally spend that kind of money in myself however...
The army issue para boots I have been wearing for the last 4 years are almost dead so I'm looking to replace them with something fitted and easier to take off.

I do need quality boots as I live in Scotland (nuff said!) I am not generally a shoe collector and literally wear my boots every day that its too cold for sandal (except driving lessons which I have pumps for)

As to can I afford it, I suppose so. I have been budgeting hard and so have been putting money away for winter essentials.

However I don't have the money to waste iyswim.

So give it to me straight... An I being hopelessly selfish and I'm blinded by love if these boots (in black, with red laces, swoon) or a they a worthy investment, which I will treasure and value for years to come.

Has anyone tried them? Are they as good as the reviews?

Merrell is a good make, I would buy them, they should be long lasting. If you can afford go for it.

My sil has those ones. She loves them. Your feet will be very toasty. I also have some merrell boots, they are totally worth the money. Warm, waterproof, stylish, brilliant!

I've just looked at the soles on them (another site) they are very good for walking in the snow, I have a pair of North Face boots with a similar sole and they don't clog up like other boots I have worn.

I buy expensive boots every 2 years....used to buy a pair for half the price yearly and they lasted half a winter. I now have a selection of lovelies which have lasted me years and years....go for your life!

125 pounds IS too much, in my opinion. But if you are going to wear it daily, then the cost per wear will be very low. And if they are going to be your main footwear, it makes sense to invest in this pair.

I've been desperately trying to remember whether i bought my merrells in 2010 or 2011. It was definitely 2010, they arrived just before christmas and i wore them on a daily basis until at least march, then nov-march for the following two winters, and they will definitely last next winter too. Buy cheap, buy twice!

If you will wear them for more than 2 seasons then that's just over 60 a year which is a good price for boots. If you will get 3 seasons, even better.

I think £125 is a good price for sturdy boots you would wear them for years

In a great believer in buying good quality that will last wear appropriate.

What was it metaphorical grannies used to say "a good bed and good shoes because if your not in one your in the other"

I want a camera which is likely not to give me much change from £500. I'll probably get it too. If it's worth it and you can afford it, I don't think you have to feel guilty. Or feel guilty about not feeling guilty Wink

They are something you will wear every day.
I pay £200 for boots as I have odd feet Grin......i am still wearing them all 4 years on, and they still look like new.

Oh I wouldn't feel guilty any more after I spent that much on a pair of boots that were £125 in the sale. At the time I felt terrible, but now 3 seasons later they are still looking as good as new and are sooo comfy and grippy and look lovely too. Money well spent if you ask me.

There either seems to be super cheap boots around £20 that only last a short while or there's the boots over £100 and nothing in between*. I have been online boot shopping for the Autumn and I am a bit shocked by what I found. I am going to have to save up and get some next month.

*I am a bit picky on the style, though

PS You totally deserve to have a good pair of boots. The state of your feet affects the way you are the whole day.

Definitely go for it. I have very few shoes, and they're all expensive, decent quality. As otherwise I'm spending probably more on shoes that fall apart or hurt. Merrell is an excellent make.

As usual, there's no size 9. That's my normal problem - all my shoes tend to be Dude Shoes.

I might just get a pair of those for myself too op. They are a good worthwhile reliable make rather than 'fashion' so worth paying more for.

From the merrell site I think they do go up to a 9? I'm an 8 and they do that.

Usually I just go to army surplus stores and spend £20 on combat boots. They do last quite well but there is no support. And they are an utter pita to take off, especially if wet and muddy.

The only worry is, I've quite wide feet, I wonder if that will be a problem?
